The Flashwas one of the biggest superhero shows on The CW, and it’s no wonder why it ran for nine seasons – fans loved it so much, especially Grant Gustin’s portrayal of the Scarlet Speedster.

Martin, who played police detective Joe West, remarked that his character’s dynamics with Barry Allen in Season 3 was “completely different.” He said that it was fun to do as it was a whole new Joe-and-Barry adventure, the complete opposite of how they were in the beginning.
Gustin wasn’t too thrilled about the change. “It also hurts my heart a little bit,” he confessed, referring to the sudden twist in his character’s connection with West. For those who aren’t aware, the latter played the surrogate father to Barry Allen.
In theFlashpointstory, the titular hero’s mother never died; in effect, he never lived with Joe and his daughter, Iris. It also wasn’t a great time for the West family, because the detective in this timeline is a drunkard.

It’s understandable why Gustin felt a little sad about this season since Allen shared many great moments with Martin’s onscreen character from the first two seasons.
