Chris Evans’ exit from the MCU as the formidable Captain American left a lot of fans heartbroken yet hopeful for the future of the character. The mantle along with the shield was handed over to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson by the first Avenger himself.
After his performance inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier,fans are excited to see the further development of Wilson’s character arc. Among numerous theories floating about the upcomingCaptain America 4, one rumor focused on the possible upgrades he received. Fans are skeptical about the face-off between Red Hulk and the new Cap when the latter clearly lacks enhancements.
Theory 1: The Super Soldier Serum
Many fans speculated online thatAnthony Mackie‘s character might finally receive his artificial upgrade for the upcoming battles. Sam Wilson, unlikeChris Evans‘ Steve Rogers, did not reap the benefits of the powerful Super Soldier Serum that helped create Captain America.

Even without the special aid, Sam Wilson proved his might when he had to retrieve the shield from John Walker (played byWyatt Russell) inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier.The former Air Force Veteran even managed to curb a terrorist group while battling the compromised Super Soldier.
Captain America: Brave New Worldwould showcase Wilson in his full-fledged role as the new Captain, facing severe issues.Harrison Ford‘s Red Hulk andTim Blake Nelson‘s The Leader might be just the tip of the icebergs he needs to conquer to ensure peace.
Fans were skeptical of Wilson’s prowess when compared to the enhanced abilities of the antagonists. One popular online theory stated that the new Captain America might also receive a serum boost like his predecessor, enabling him to battle the supervillains.

However, many objected to this theory, stating Rogers chose Wilson due to his humanity and innate goodness rather than physical prowess. The latter also received a customized Wakanda-made Captain America suit by the Dora Milaje owing to his determination and sheer will.
Theory 2: The indestructible alien metal alloy
Another possible reason behind Mackie’s advanced strength in the new trailer could be his vibranium shield. The prized artifact had caused a lot of havoc when the Falcon decided to give it up to the authorities and it fell into the wrong hands.

Now with Wilson fully accepting and transitioning into his role as the new Captain, it is possible that added modifications were in call. It is possible that not just the shield, but his costume too received the added layer of protection making him unsusceptible to grave injuries.
He’s also slicing through the car with his his wings- suggesting that his suit is perhaps enhanced with vibranium from Wakanda. If that’s the case, the vibranium would allow absorb the energy from the impact and allow him to take the hard landings.

The visuals from the second trailer suggested that the new leader would have to step out of his comfort zone to once again prove his worth. Wilson might have to take on Sidewinder (portrayed byGiancarlo Esposito) and other enemies without the help of advanced technologies or serums.

Whether the new Captain America gets the Super Soldier Serum or not, fans will be cheering for his epic brawl with the anticipated supervillains. One thing is clear from the few glimpses of the upcoming film, Wilson’s physical ability did get an upgrade.
