The news of Robert Downey Jr’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken the internet by storm. As the world tries to cope with this emotional reunion and the iconic reveal of the news, many have started to actually think about the character that he will be playing. At theSDCC,it was announced that Downey will be playing the role of one of the most iconic villains from Marvel Comics, Doctor Doom.

While many fans are excited about the news, they cannot help but wonder if Downey was the perfect pick for the character. Although many fans trust him and his capabilities, others think that there were other actors who were better suited for the role and they are making their voices heard.
Fans Doubt Robert Downey Jr’s Recent Casting
After theannouncementofRobert Downey Jr’sreturn, it is difficult not to wonder if he will be the right person for the role. After the news was announced and the initial shock faded, fans have been somewhat worried. While they certainly wanted Downey to come back into the franchise, they do not thinkDoctor Doomwas who he needed to come back as.
While many do agree with the casting, there is one specific aspect of the character that is making the others hesitant. In the comics and almost all other versions of the character, Victor von Doom is from Latveria and was a Romani. Due to this, many fans were fan-casting actors like Cillian Murphy and Alexander Skarsgård in the role.

From a purely objective perspective, one can say that the actor may not be the right choice. However, there is no denying that he is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood and knows exactly how to melt into any character. In his recent series,The Sympathizer, Downey played four different characters that were completely different from each other, showcasing his true talents.
