Three years after its official announcement, IGI Origins eventually received its first gameplay trailer recently, revealing some action-packed moments from the game and showing off the prequel’s loyalty to the original IGI games through some well-known scenes.

The gameplay trailer has been captured from the pre-alpha version of the game, which means everything you see is subject to change, including the visual representation of the game that will surely improve until launch.

Similar to the original game, you start the mission from the outskirts of the target facilities, which allows you to use your binoculars to spot the enemies at the entry points. As the trailer reveals, your primary mission is to infiltrate the enemy buildings quietly and sabotage their military programs. In between, the trailer also pays tribute to some nostalgic features, such as the switch to third-person view when climbing ladders or the iconic melee takedowns.

In theYouTube page of the trailer, Antimatter Games has ensured players that the development of IGI Origins is processing at a good pace, and they will be sharing more information on the game when it is closer to launch. Currently, there is no official release window for the game, but it is expected to come out next year.

Originally announced back in 2019, IGI Origins is a prequel to the original Project IGI that was launched back in 2000 on PC. The project was first revealed as an upcoming game from Toadman Interactive, but the development team changed, and Antimatter Games took the helm for developing IGI Origins. Most of us know Antimatter Games for their incredible work on Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, which already makes IGI Origins an anticipated project too.

Powered by Unreal Engine, IGI Origins has only been confirmed for PC so far, but it remains unknown whether Antimatter Games would announce a console port in the future. Regarding the fact that the original Project IGI was only launched on PC, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the developer skips consoles.
