The MCU and DC might never see a crossover on the big screen. However, there have been plenty of ways actors from across the franchises have engaged with each other. While the two franchises have also seen the same faces and creators making their way from one side to the other, one particular crossover proved utterly concerning for fans.

Josh Brolin as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War I Marvel Studios
MCU star Josh Brolin and DCEU’s Diane Lane married back in 2004, but just months later, the former was arrested. This brought forth a huge controversy for Josh Brolin, who went on to play a major role in Marvel’s live-action franchise. Lane, who played Martha Kent in multiple DCEU offerings, accused Brolin of physical assault and battery, and despite her reluctance to press charges, he was taken into custody.

Josh Brolin paid $20,000 bail after Diane Lane accused the MCU actor of striking her
The incident itself had occurred at their shared home. When an argument escalated between the two,Diane Laneended up calling the police and claimed that she had been struck by her husband. Charged with spousal battery, Brolin was eventually released on a $20k bail.
However, while her initial claim was thatJosh Brolinhad indeed struck her, multiple reports and interviews from the two later suggested something different. In addition to her reluctance to press charges on her husband, Lane also attempted to downplay the incident in a later interview.

Lane’s representative claimed that the incident itself had resulted from a ‘misunderstanding between the two celebrities’: (Daily Mail)
Diane did not want to press charges and asked them not to arrest him, but in cases involving the possibility of any physical contact, the police have to arrest first and ask questions later.

The story was corroborated by an unnamed friend as well, who revealed that neither of the two actors had any injuries in the aftermath of the incident. Hence, albeit a concerning booking and charges, Brolin seemingly was innocent, and did not actually show evidence of being Thanos-like, all those years earlier.
Josh Brolin also gave his take on the concerning allegations
Brolin has undoubtedly gone forth to enjoy a stellar career in Hollywood. However, that may not have been a possibility had the allegations against him proven true. While he was arrested and had to spend time in lockup, Brolin seemingly did not hold any resentment against his former wife.
In an interview with Playboy back in 2010, (via Huff Post) Brolin said the following:

I talked big, she said ‘F*** you’ and called the cops, and somebody had to go to jail. There’s no explaining it. Whatever I say [now] is going to sound like compensation for a perpetrator.
Of course, the interview took place years after the incident, which occurred in 2004. Still, not only did the actor stay mum for the longest of time, but he also did not defend himself when he eventually did speak up. Further, Brolin also showed an obvious respect for his ex-wife, despite being well aware of the kind of negative impact such a controversy can have on any actor, MCU or not. Just ask Jonathan Majors!
