There are so many things that stand out aboutThe Office.Whether it’s the absurd dynamics between the employees or Jim’s pranks on Dwight, the heartfelt moments tucked between the chaos, or Michael Scott’s unconventional leadership, it’s impossible to pick one favorite element from it all. However, if there was a gun pointed at our head and we HAD to pick something out, we’d definitely choose Steve Carell’s portrayal of the iconic and lovable regional manager.

One thing about Steve Carell’s Michael is that his looks match his fun-loving personality. He looks like the kind of guy you could approach when something’s troubling you. While we don’t know if he’d fix your problems or double them, we know he’ll try his best to help. However, Season 1 Michael was a completely different story and he sported the look of a no-nonsense boss as well with his slick back hair. Season 2 came with such a drastic glow-up that fans are still wondering if Steve Carell had a hair transplant done.

She even talked to Carell about her idea and he was totally on board, Ferry said,

Season 1 was a different hair department head, so I didn’t have any control of that. But when I knew that I had the job they sent me some tapes of the show, and when I watched the tapes I was like, ‘Oof.’ I felt like it was a very severe look on [Steve]. I wanted to talk to [him] about it, and that’s the first thing I did. He was like, ‘Yeah, I definitely want to change it.’

As per Ferry, the team ofThe Officewas trying to make him look more like Gordon Gekko from the 1987Oliver Stonefilm,Wall Street. However, in doing so, Ferry believes they ended up making him a bit too creepy.

What I was told was that his character in the first six episodes — basically they were going for like a Gordon Gekko. They wanted it to be slick. But I felt like it made him too, I don’t want to say creepy, but it wasn’t flattering.

Thus, Carell found his new look thanks to Ferry. Now, whether it was makeup, hair products, different styling techniques, or even hair transplants, we don’t know. All we know is that it sure worked in his favor!
