But another significant reason relates to how she grew up and observed her parents’ relationship. While she didn’t go into many details, the actress mentioned in an interview withThe Wall Street Journalthat what she experienced in their relationship didn’t exactly inspire her to want the same for herself:
It was always a little bit difficult for me in relationships, I think, because I really was kind of alone. I don’t know. My parents, watching my family’s relationship, didn’t make me kind of go: ‘Oh, I can’t wait to do that.’
According to her, she also struggled with knowing how to share her life with someone and what she might have to give up for that — she felt she “didn’t have any real training in that give-and-take.”
