First getting diagnosed when he was just 22, Reigns has a rare form of leukemia called CML. After not being able to follow through with his initial plans of playing Football, the now-WWE champion followed the path of his father and signed up with WWE.
However, the cancer once again returned in 2018, making Reigns take a 127-day break from the ring (seeSager Strong Foundation). And ever since then, Reigns has been on Oral Chemotherapy, as he recently revealed duringWrestleMania XL Press Conference.
“I’m still on oral chemotherapy, it’s a medication that I’m going to have to remain on my entire life most likely. It’s just a part of my personal battle.”
Even in the recently airedA&E documentaryReigns touched upon his battle with the disease and revealed how disturbing his 2018 diagnosis was. But stating thatadversity is a key ingredient to any success story, Reigns has remained adamant to continue.
