Actress Erin Moriarty gained fame when she was cast as Starlight in the Prime Video seriesThe Boys. The actress starred alongside Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Jensen Ackles, and Antony Starr in the darkly comic superhero series. Her performance brought her worldwide recognition and fame.

However, that fame showed its dark side when she was recently a victim of a smear campaign by Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. The anchor reportedly accused Erin Moriarty of having done plastic surgery on herself and even went as far as calling her mentally ill. Moriarty fired back at Kelley in a detailed Instagram post, slamming her comments.

The BoysstarErin Moriartyrecently came under fire for her looks when Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly spoke about her alleged plastic surgery. Kelly compared the actress’ photos on live TV, making statements about young women taking to plastic surgery despite having a ‘natural beauty’.

Kelly reportedly used Moriarty as an example of the use prevailing use of surgery in young women and called it a ‘social illness’. She said on her showThe Megyn Kelley Show,

“There’s this girl…her name is Erin Moriarty…This is a picture of her before which I think was relatively recent within the past year or so…Now look at her…She’s got the Kim Kardashian lips, she’s made her nose so skinny it looks like a pencil now, and she’s got what appear to me to be cheek implants…not to pick on this Moriarty gal but like more and more young women are doing this.”

The talk show host, along with her guest political commentator Michael Knowles, went on to term the phenomenon of increasing plastic surgery in young women as a ‘mental illness’ and a ‘societal illness’. The duo spoke about the concept of hyper-reality and how social media drives many people to change their appearance to suit a standard of beauty. Kelly said,

“It’s not about an objection to plastic surgery, it’s about an obsession with turning yourself into this fake version of yourself… I find it like a sign of mental illness. I really want to get in the heads of these young girls and say, ‘Please don’t do this.'”

The talk show host also went on to bring up photos of Lauren Sanchez, the wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Erin Moriarty Slams Megyn Kelly For Baseless Allegations

Erin Moriarty called out Megyn Kelly for her comments onThe Boysstar’s looks and accusations of plastic surgery. In a longInstagram post, Moriarty spoke about how she was being bullied by the Fox News anchor and how she was using photos from years ago to make her point. Moriarty also called out netizens who spread hate in her comments.

Erin Moriarty stated in her post that Kelly did not even bother to do proper research on her material,

“Megyn used a photo taken ‘a year ago’ according to her, that had in actuality been taken about a decade ago before I was of LEGAL DRINKING AGE (I’m about to turn 30) as an example (maybe do some research that would take 30 seconds).”

The actress also mentioned that the ‘recent’ photo that was shown,’ which was the ‘proof’ of her having done plastic surgery, was her in makeup, and she had felt beautiful after that day. Erin Moriarty mentioned that it was false news and had turned into harassment.

Moriarty mentioned that she would be deactivating her social media account due to the intense hate and misunderstanding that has happened due to the issue. She said that though she wanted to use the platform to talk about the issues she believed in, it was not worth it anymore. She concluded her statement with,

“Social media is a platform that is not representative of a whole person and, irregardless there is no excuse for the words that have been spoken directly to me, or about me. Shame on you Megyn Kelly. Shame on you, Fox News (Vought incarnate).”
