Loot is what keeps the world ofDestiny 2turning. This primarily takes the shape of weapons and armor, with a heavy emphasis on the former. The Guardians' wide arsenal of potential weaponsis varied, formidable, and constantly fun to experiment with in this sci-fi looter shooter. Exotics form the pinnacle of this, with their dramatically enhanced perks and abilities. One particular Exotic, Cloudstrike, turned heads when it was released in Beyond Light, and then once more when it received a Catalyst in Season 19.

Cloudstrike is an Arc sniper rifle. It sits fairly high in the ratings among players, in both PvE and PvP environments. This is largely thanks to its curated roll being optimal for a sniper rifle, and its Exotic perks channeling the strength of Thor himself. It takes a bit of work to unlock, but it’s well worth the effort. Here’s how to get it.

How To Get Cloudstrike In Destiny 2

To even qualify to get Cloudstrike, Guardians will need to own the Beyond Light campaign. From there, they will need to complete said campaign. This will unlock Variks' mini-campaign against the new Fallen empire. Completing this will unlock the A Hard Rain Falls mission fromthe enigmatic Exo Stranger. From there, Guardians will need to farm Empire Hunt missions, which can be obtained from Variks.

These Hunts cost 40 Herealways Pieces which can be obtained by completing bounties and other activities on the icy world of Europa. Each of the hunts will have Guardians going against Phylaks, Kridis, or Praksis yet again. Guardians will likely remember them from the Beyond Light campaign.

Unfortunately,Completing an Empire Hunt isn’t a guaranteed way to obtain Cloudstrike. Instead, they simply have a chance to drop the Exotic sniper rifle.Like many other things in Destiny 2, Guardians will need to regularly run the Empire Hunts until the weapon does drop. Farming and hoping is the name of the game, ultimately.

Cloudstrike Perks

The perks on Cloudstrike make it the equivalent of a sniper rifle version of the Exotic machine gun, Thunderlord. There’s something supremely satisfying about raining havoc from the skies as targets are dispatched by precise headshots.

Cloudstrike Catalyst

To acquire the Cloudstrike Catalyst, Guardians must own the Beyond Light campaign and complete Playlist activities. It will randomly drop upon completion. Once acquired, Guardians must rack up 400 kills with the weapon to complete the Catalyst, thus making it available to equip. The Catalyst itself adds theTriple Tapperk, which returns a round to the magazine when landing rapid precision hits. It will also greatly increase the handling of the weapon, by +25.
