There will come a time when you unlock armor with incredible stats, but don’t necessarily like the look of it. This is where Layered Armor comes in, allowing players to keep the stats while changing the appearance of their hunter.

How to Unlock Layered Armor
Before we get into how to unlock more Layered Armor inMonster Hunter Wilds, it’s important to know thatthe option doesn’t become available until you reach High Rankand complete the main story.
The only available Layered Armor before High Rank is thepre-order bonus, “The Guild Knight Set”, and the Deluxe Content, “Feudal Soldier.”

Once you complete the main story and unlock High Rank inthe endgame,you can truly customize your hunter with Layered Armor.
Monster Hunter Wilds Armor Is No Longer Gender Locked
The entire Monster Hunter wardrobe is open for all.
Every time you craft a High Rank armor piece, it is instantly added to your Layered Armor menuand can be used for equipment appearance.
Not only can players wear any High Rank armor they like without losing their current stats, but they can also change the color template of each High Rank armor piece.

High Rank armor is the only equipment that can be used for Layered Armor.This means thatany armor you craftedduring the main story can’t be used for equipment appearance.
How to Change Equipment Appearance
To change equipment appearance with Layered Armor inMonster Hunter Wilds,head to your tent at any base camp.
In the tent menu, navigate over to theAppearance Menu tab (the last tab) and select Equipment Appearance. Don’t select “Change Appearance,” as this would lead to customizing the physical look of your hunter, such as hairstyle, face, etc.

When in the Equipment Appearance menu, you’ll see all the High Rank armor you unlocked that you can use for Layered Armor. Additionally, you can select the color wheel next to each Layered Armor to change the color of each piece of equipment.
Players also get the opportunity to change the equipment appearance of their Palico, by selecting the Palico Equipment Appearance option under the Appearance Menu section. There’s also an option to change the color of the Seikret.
Can You Change Weapon Appearance?
At the time of writing, there’sno option to change weapon appearance inMonster Hunter Wilds. While this is a huge bummer, there’s still a chance that it will be added in future updates.
The option to change weapon appearance became available inMonster Hunter WorldwhenIcebornewas released, a major expansion that was released a year after the launch of the base game.
While it’s not confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will even receive more content, it’s possible that we’ll see the option to customize weapon appearance in a potential expansion.
