Wuchang: Fallen Feathershas a total offour endings.Like most Soulslikes,Wuchanghas a true ending that supposedly ties the story and lore together, requiring the completion of a series of questlines and the discovery of numerous missable secrets.
Achieving a specific ending inWuchangrequires a very specific sequence of questlines and triggers. Unfortunately, it’s incredibly easy to miss NPCs, questlines, and items and easily lock you into the bad ending.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Review
Bird is the word.
With that in mind, I wrote this comprehensive guide onhow to achieve the true ending in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, called “Dream’s Sweet Deceit,” which is also the name of the related achievement/trophy.
Make sure to follow each step carefully,as one mistake or missed item can lock you out and force you into the bad ending, and you can’t easily reload your save.

Begin Zhao Yun’s Questline
At the start of the game, progress normally until you get to Shu Sanctum, because you’ll need to make sure you speak to the White-Robed Elder (Zhao Yun) to trigger his questline.
He’s dozed off on the second floor of Shu Sanctum, near the old lady praying at the Buddha shrine.

Continue Your Journey
After that, continue your playthrough as normal, while making sure you hit the Zhao Yun encounters throughout your journey. His locations will be in thequestline guide here.
Because this will be a rather intensive playthrough, make sure to level up as much as you can before tackling any major bosses, so try to tackle the side quests andoptional bosseslike theGluttonous Monstrosity.

Eventually, you’ll wind up at the Tang Palace, and you’ll fightCommander Honglan. After you’ve defeated her, you’ll get a cutscene and finish Chapter 1.
You’ll wake up at the Reverent Temple, and Chapter 2 begins as NPCs point you in the direction of the mountain ranges of Hillswatch, then Cloudspire, and then Mt. Zhenwu.

Instead of heading towards the direction of Mt. Zhenwu, head directly to Cloudspire Outskirts and then Snowfall Palace.verify not to enter Mt. Zhenwu too soon,as it’ll lock you out of certain questlines and the True Ending.Cloudspire City is your top priority.
To avoid accidentally going to Mt. Zhenwu, avoid the cave that’s blocked off by wagons.
Once you get to Hillswatch, head down to find a grave with a blue wisp floating above it. Head straight to Cloudspire Outskirts and then the Rebel Camp. You’ll encounter some rebels, explore the Mort Grotto mines, and meet NPCs along the way to help them (or don’t).
While you’re at Hillswatch, make sure to use the “Examine” emote on a grave tucked in a nook near a house. You’ll pick up the “Shu Silk Scarf.” This is important for later.
Avoid fightingAi Nengqi, even whenNian Suichangasks for your help, as this will lock you out of several NPCs in Cloudspire City. Instead, focus on letting down the drawbridge by lighting three beacons scattered across town.
Zhao Yun is on the scaffolding of one of the beacon towers, with the Cloudspire Outskirts as the closest shrine. Progress his questline while you’re at it.
Once the drawbridge is down, cross the bridge and fight theMing General.Defeat him, and proceed onwards to Cloudspire City proper.
Infiltrate the city, and you’ll find an enemy knocking on a door. Kill it, andtalk to the person on the other side.
Complete Fang Yao’s Questline
Her name’sFang Yao, and she’s a young girl trying to find out what happened to her apothecary father. She hints that he’s at Hillswatch. You’ll find at Hillswatch that Fang Yao’s father died a while ago,and you’ll pick up a scarf once you inspect his grave.
If you’ve already picked up this item, you may immediately deliver it to Fang Yao right after speaking to her.
Fang Yao will ask for your help to free her sister Fang Ling, who is somewhere in the deepest reaches of Snowfall Palace.
Venture Deeper Into Snowfall Palace
Defeat theMistress of the Night, then head down the deep, dark shaft, where you’ll find the results of horrific human experiments and tons of other abominations.
Eventually, you’ll run into Fang Yao, who’s gone to find her sister. Despite being a little ruffled from witnessing the horrors of this place, she’s unharmed and tells you more about her sister and the little ditty they used to sing together.
On your way there, you’ll also find He Youzai, who voices his concerns about this place. Proceed onwards, and you’ll run into Commander Honglan.Honglan’s questlineis not needed for this ending, but progressing it also won’t affect it, so you can do it if you want to.
Vanquish The Perfect Bride
To finish Fang Yao’s questline, descend further into the depths, andyou’ll come face to face with her sister Fang Ling, who has been turned into the abominablePerfect Bride.Put her out of her misery.
After defeating the Perfect Bride and freeing Fang Ling from her suffering,Enter the Dream at the newly spawned shrineto find the Storyteller and Fang Yao nearby.
Talk to Fang Yao, who is cradling her sister’s severed head.Exhaust her dialogue until you receive Fang Yao’s Light Gown and Hairband.
Then, talk to the Storyteller, who will offer to teleport you to the direction of your next destination: Mt. Zhenwu.
Take the offer, and he’ll teleport you to a path to the mine shaft that you previously avoided.Keep progressing until you hear Zhao Yun’s voice.
Head up the fork in the road, and you’ll see him standing over some monster bodies.Exhaust his dialogue and proceed onwards.
Cross the Battlefield Pass, eventually arriving at the Refugee Camp, where you’ll find He Youzai, who seems to have taken Fang Yao under his wing.Exhaust both their dialogues and proceed onward.
Help Zhao Yun
I cannot emphasize this enough, butdo not enter the Refugee Camp or complete Zhenwu Temple before finishing Cloudspire City and Snowfall Palace.Doing so may lock you out of the questline and, subsequently, the True Ending.
You’ll soon encounter Zhao Yun again, who asks you for your help in defeating a beast.Agree to help him.
Zhao Yun’s questline will take you through the Avian Marsh, where you’ll traverse a linear path up a dense rainforest.
Defeat The Bo Sorcerer And Complete Zhao Yun’s Questline
Eventually, you’ll fight theBo Sorcerer. While summoning Zhao Yun is optional, it’s much better to summon him so that it’ll make the fight much easier.
Once the Bo Sorcerer is vanquished, you’ll need to find Zhao Yun at the Tomb, which is shown to be near the Avian Dwelling shrine. It’s going to be a little confusing, but you may follow the Zhao Yun questline guide for more info.
Exhaust Zhao Yun’s dialogue, and he’ll give you the Tigraliz Pendant as a reward for completing his questline.
Finish Zhenwu Temple
You’re now free to do whatever you need to complete the rest of Chapter 3.Defeat theSouth General, fight theFierce Tiger, and continue onwards to fightBai Kru.
Regardless, get to a point where the Storyteller asks if you want to proceed to a point of no return.Agree to proceed once you’re ready and have completed all the side quests you need.
Explore Worship’s Rise In Ruins
You’ll wake up at the Annalum in Worship’s Rise in Ruins. You’ll find Fang Yao and He Youzai right outside the building you woke up in.
Exhaust their dialogue, and they’ll both indicate thatReverent Temple is your next destination.
For now,you may either head straight to the Reverent Temple or explore the areawhere you’ll get to fight theNightmare Demon, have a rematch with Honglan asVermillion Feathers(if you’ve freed her from the dungeons at the Bride Boudoir), and put a stop to theBo Magus’sinister machinations.

Get ready to wear that git-gud shirt.
Fang Yao And He Youzai At Reverent Temple
At the Reverent Temple, you’ll find Fang Yao in the pavilion, where a young boy used to be. Speak to her, and she’ll give you the itemsRing of Samsara - Cause, andResearch Journal - Scrap 3.
Then, head into the temple and talk to He Youzai.Give himResearch Journal - Scrap 3, and he’ll give you theRing of Samsara - Effect.
On your way up the hill towards Burning Cave, you’ll see Xuanyangzi lying next to a tree, lamenting.
Talk to him, and when prompted, remain silent about the Jade Ancient Chisel.Giving him the chiselwill immediately lock you into the Bad Ending.
Enter the Burning Cave anddefeat theDragon Emperor bossto begin Chapter 5.
Defeat Eternal Glory
After a cutscene, you’ll wake up at the underground Bo Capital. For now, head back to the Tomb near Avian Dwelling.
There, you’ll find Zhao Yun waiting for you asEternal Glory, one of the game’stoughest boss fights.Defeat him to get the Cyan Feather Chisel.
Secret Area: Shrine Dwelling
Head back to the Bo Capital and explore the area. Eventually, you’ll wind up at the Capital Depths shrine, where you’ll see another riddle door.
Choose the answer"The wheel turns anew"to get teleported to the Shrine Dwelling area.
Defeat The Demon Of Obsession And Combine The Rings Of Samsara
There, you’ll encounter theDemon of Obsession boss.Instead of melee weapons, theDemon of Obsession will use a lot of magic, and is significantly harder than the Nightmare Demon.
Once you defeat the boss, head up to the altar (but not before fighting a miniboss). Interact with the glowing pedestal andchoose “Reform causality” to combine the rings into the Ring of Samsara - Rebirth.
You’ll find the Ring of Samsara - Rebirth in your inventory as a consumable.DO NOT TOUCH THE RING OF SAMSARA REBIRTH!For some reason, the game lets you consume it to generate a ton of Red Mercury.DO NOT BE TEMPTED.
Beat The Game
The rest is simple. Continue exploring the Capital, and you’ll arrive at the Forbidden Lands, where you’ll face off againstFeathery Ambition. You may summon Duryal for the fight.
With Xuanyangzi six-feet-under, you can now do as you please. Make sure to tie up any loose ends before finishing the game.
When you’re ready, interact with the Gate of Truth and choose"Enter the Realm of Dreams" to unlock the “Dream’s Sweet Deceit” ending.
