There are several optional Chromatic bosses inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, some that you meet early, and others that you can’t fight until you reach much later sections of the game.
Chromatic Bourgeon happens to be one of the latter ones that you’re able to only challenge after you nearly get to the end of Act 2.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: How to Beat Chromatic Gault
Keep dying to the Chromatic Gault in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? Here is the best party and their skills that you can use to easily beat this boss.
Interestingly, when you defeat it, it drops you aBourgeon skin, which is an item that is easy to miss if you aren’t doing thewhite Nevron quests. Before taking the fight, you had better be prepared, because going in unprepared could spell a hasty defeat.

Still, if you have fought non-Chromatic Bourgeon before, you know what to expect. But if you’re still struggling, here is everything you need to beat the Chromatic Bourgeon in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
Where To Find Chromatic Bourgeon?
you’re able to find the Chromatic Bourgeon at Tainted Waters in Inside The Monolith.
Fast Travel to the Tainted Waters Expedition Flag 70 checkpoint, and follow the path on the left. Next, turn left and walk towards the red-glowing anchor on the ceiling. You are in the right direction if you see a giant ball and some naval mines.

Go down, and in the distance, you will spot a Chromatic Bourgeon with glowing blue sea kelp on its back. Attack the Nevron to start the fight.
How To Prepare For The Chromatic Bourgeon Fight
The Chromatic Bourgeon is weak to Lightning attacks. So, the best member for this fight is Lune.
Maelle and Verso are also good for the job as they have plenty of strong skills that can deal damage using their weapon’s element. So, this fight can be very easy if you have Lightning weapons.

However, you do need to be careful when fighting this Nevron. One of its main attacks eats up one party member, which can severely cripple your team. For example, if Lune gets eaten up, your Maelle and Verso should be well-prepared to carry on the fight.
So, to help you get ready for this fight, here are the best party members, their skills, and the attack list of Chromatic Bourgeon:

Best Party Members
For this fight,my team consisted of Lune, Maelle, and Versoat levels 62, 64, and 67, respectively.
Let’s startbuilding Lune, as she has the best elemental skills in the game. The ones you should go for are Lightning Dance, Thunderfall, and Mayhem. As for her support skills, Healing Light and Rebirth should be good enough to keep your team alive. For her weapon, I used a level 15Kralim.

This guide explains if you should romance Sciel or Lune in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
WithMaelle, the weapon that you can use isClierum, but as I didn’t have it unlocked at the time, I equipped a level 15Barrier Breaker. For her skills, you can use Sword Ballet, Gustave’s Homage, Swift Stride, and Rain of Fire.
You can get Clierum as a drop by defeating Seething Boucheclier at Visages.
Finally, forVerso, his best skills for this fight are Strike Storm, Assault Zero, Perfect Break, and Perfect Recovery. The ideal weapons for him for this fight areContorsoandDualiso. But as I had a level 32Delaram, I decided to use that instead.

Chromatic Bourgeon Attack Breakdown
Chromatic Bourgeon does 5 different attacks, out of which the most troublesome one is where it eats your teammate.
Here is a breakdown of every attack the Chromatic Bourgeon does, and the action you should take to counter them:
Eating an Ally
Chromatic Bourgeon will eat any of your allies, leaving them unusable for the rest of the fight until you either stun or defeat the boss.
Stun Chromatic Bourgeon by breaking their Break bar.
3-Hit Combo
Chromatic Bourgeon hits an expedition member with a 3-hit attack. In this combo, it slams its right hand on the character thrice. The moment it strikes the first attack, be ready to quickly parry or dodge the other two as they happen almost instantaneously.
Dodge or Parry
4-Hit Combo
Chromatic Bourgelon starts the combo by slamming its head on the character. Next, it does its 3-Hit Combo.
Crushing Combo
In this attack, Chromatic Bourgeon starts by hitting the player with its 3-Hit combo. Next, it slams its left hand on the player twice. Finally, it ends the combo with a head slam.
Chromatic Bourgeon spits green projectiles at the party. It spits at the players 4 times. Be sure to dodge it. If you mistime your parry and end up getting hit, this move applies the Exhaust debuff on your character. While the debuff is active, parrying attacks won’t restore AP.
How To Beat The Chromatic Bourgeon In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The fastest way of defeating the Chromatic Bourgeon is by attacking it with skills that deal lightning damage. Which is where Lune comes in, as her moves are super important in this fight.
In her turn, start by hitting Chromatic Bourgeon with Thunderfall, as there is a good chance you won’t have enough AP for using Lightning Dance. However, the plan gets simpler from here. Next, you have to hope it doesn’t eat you and parry all its attacks to generate AP for your next turn.
If Chromatic Bourgeon doesn’t eat Lune, and you have enough AP, then you should go for Lightning Dance. Else, you could use Mayhem to hit the boss with as much damage as you could with your Stains.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: 11 Best Pictos, Ranked
Thanks to Gustave’s Lumina Converter, we can become so powerful with these Pictos.
If Chromatic Bourgeon eats Lune, your next best bet is to stay alive and deal break damage with Maelle and Verso, to break its Break bar, or to outright finish it.
Make sure you have equipped your Lightning weapons for Maelle and Verso, as this is the time you will be needing them the most.
While having a Lightning-element weapon is good, it’s useless if the weapon in question is low level. A higher-level weapon will do more damage with the right skills than a weaker weapon that has an elemental advantage.
Parry and counter as many attacks as you can, and dodge the ones you feel aren’t worth parrying or if the character is Exhausted. With enough damage, you should be able to bring the boss’s HP down, and if you are lucky, you may even break its Break bar.
Keep pressuring the Chromatic Bourgeon with your Lightning attacks and counterattacks, and you will defeat it easily.
