Horizon Zero Dawndevelopers Guerrilla have confirmed that updates for the game’s PC version will start to slow down so the studio can work on the sequel,Horizon Forbidden West.

The announcement came as part of Guerrilla’spatch notesfor Horizon Zero Dawn’s most recent PC update. The update “introduces crash fixes and performance improvements” as well as a few other changes. Within the notes, Guerilla added the following statement regarding future updates:

“As our team continues development on our upcoming title Horizon Forbidden West, we are shifting to less frequent updates for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for PC after this patch,” adding “Please note that we will continue to monitor our community spaces as always!”

The game has received amultitude of patchessince its launch on PC last year, tohelp deal with crashes,fix various bugsandstabilise performance issues. It looks like these will start to wind down now, in favour of supporting the upcomingHorizon Forbidden West, though Guerilla will still support the game should the community report anything egregious.

Horizon Forbidden Westwas first revealedduring Sony’sFuture of Gaming PS5 reveal event. The game isscheduled for release in 2021and will receiveboth PS4 and PS5 versions.Forbidden Westis a direct sequel to 2017’sHorizon Zero Dawnand will see Aloy travel across a range of new environments and come up against some terrifying new adversaries.

Horizon Zero Dawn’sPC Version scored an 8.5/10in our official review. Of the game, we said: “Horizon Zero Dawnon PC is a fantastic experience. You’ll come for the giant robot dinosaur fights, and probably stay for them too, but also for the mysterious, enchanting world that developer Guerrilla Games has built.”

Horizon Zero Dawnis out now forPCandPS4and is playable on thePS5through PS Nowand backwards compatibility.
