Burning Shores, the DLC forHorizon Forbidden West, only includes three side quests, though they’re each very much worth completing. One of these side quests, A Stranger In The Dark, involves a familiar face for veterans ofHorizon Zero Dawn’s Frozen Wilds DLC.

In order to begin this side quest, you will first have to complete theRelic Ruin: Murmuring Hollow.A Stranger In The Darkinvolves a dangerous delve into the depths of the ruins of the tram system, and it’ll allow you to catch up with a familiar friend.
How To Begin A Stranger In The Dark
Upon completion ofRelic Ruin: Murmuring Hollow, you’ll need to transport the energy cell you’ve been using to move the trams and insert it into the final energy cell slot, unlocking the final door in Murmuring Hollow. Inside the next room, you’ll gain access to theAuxiliary Key Module.
Take this to the sealed door across the way, and you’ll be treated to a fun cutscene with your old friend,Gildun, a delver Aloy encountered while exploring a dam in theFrozen Wilds. He explains he’s trying to catch up to a new delver friend, but they got separated.

Delving With Gildun
Travel deeper into the passage. Partway down, you’ll pass by adatapoint. This will include a necessarypasscode to proceed (117). Before you reach the end, look for a small passage to the right; you’ll find2 Brimshinetucked away over there, which is a fantastic new resource for acquiring the new DLC gear.
At the bottom, input the 117 passcode in the door to proceed. From the next room, you’ll be able to see the central chamber that occupies the majority of this side quest. Explore around the room to findanother Brimshine in one corner. Your destination is a sealed door on the level above, but the ledge is a little out of reach.

To proceed, head to the north side of the room andgrab onto the Railcar. Gildun will run over to help. Together, push the Railcar forward, opening up access to a side room with a crate.Drag the crate over to the incline, and climb on top. You’ll now have the height to reach the ledge on the second floor.

How To Get The Passcode
When you get up there, however, you’ll find that the door needs apasscodeand akey module. Fear not; both are within your grasp.
For now, you’ll want toclimb up onto the ledgespanning across the chamber to reach the second floor on the opposite side.

Once on the opposite side, loot around; you’ll find a Brimshine growth, a couple lootable chests, and an importantdatapoint. This datapoint includes the passcode to the key lock you’ll need (1247).
How To Get The Key Module
When you’re ready to proceed, use your Pullcaster to rip the grate off of the console in the image above, revealing ahand wheel. you’re able to use this toraise and lower the glowing-red elevator. Let Gildun climb aboard, and he’ll ride it to the top.
After Gildun reaches the second floor, climb back across to the other side, then the two of you canmove the tram car. You now need to find a way on top of the tram car. If only you had a crate of some kind…
Return to the first floor anddrag the crate over to the elevator. Gildun will then climb across and use the wheel to bring you and the crate to the second floor.
Use the crate to climb on top of the second floor tram, thenleap up to the third floor.
You’ll find a patch ofFiregleamon a wall ahead. Ignite it to clear your path to the room on the far side. In the room, you’ll find a chest to loot andRon’s Spare Key Module. With the key module and the passcode, you’ll have everything you need to access to previously locked door on the far side of the room.
Fend Off The Burrowers
A horde of Burrowers break into the room, and you’ll need to eliminate all of them to proceed. You can rain arrows down from above for many, but several will make their way into your room, so set a trap or otherwise be prepared to defend yourself. You’ll be able to pick up and wield aDeathbringer Gun, which will help make quick work of the Burrower menace.
Speak with him, enjoy the final cutscene of the side quest, which ends withAloy offering Gildun a Focusas a token of their enduring friendship.
Upon completion of the side quest, Gildun will gift youLast Argument, a newlegendary Spike Thrower.
