Hogwarts Legacyfeatures a huge number of students that attend Hogwarts. Though players will encounter many of these students randomly throughout their journeys, there is a core group of friends that go beyond the simple definition and truly become companions. Though the list may be short, these few characters make up the majority of the socializing done while attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Many of the quests contained in the interactions with companions make up the best moments in the game. From encountering a dragon with Poppy to fighting goblins in dark corridors with Sebastian (aka “Bash”), companion quests and moments make for some truly memorable interactions and highlight some of the game’s best storytelling too.
4Amit Thakkar
Taking the number five spot is Amit. Sadly, Amit features the least amount of interaction and doesn’t have a dedicated quest line, like the other companions do. In fact, Amit was a last minute addition to House Ravenclaw in the game, supposedly because the house was the only one that still lacked a unique companion. Due to this, Amit naturally makes the last-place spot in the list because he has the shortest narrative time and is missing that unique questline.
The master ofastonomy, Amit Thakkar is the only wizard in the game that players know that can speak Gobledegook, which is the language of the goblins, and he helps players progress through a main quest with this ability. It’s also due to Amit that players can solve the astronomy tables, found scattered throughout the open world.

3Poppy Sweeting
Poppy is the main companion from House Hufflepuff, and makes forth on the list as the first real companion with a dedicated quest line. More than anything, Poppy Sweeting is a lover of magical creatures. Players will have to wait until the fall season for the chance to start Poppy’s quests, and when they do Poppy will lead them through an extended story that shows the dark underbelly of wizards and magical beast poaching.
From saving cute Puffskeins to helping out full-grown beasts like Dragons, Poppy’s missions focus on helping save magical beasts that are being poached throughout the lands around Hogwarts. These beastly interactions make up some of the most iconic moments in the game, yet ironically this is why Poppy makes it so far back on the list. Her quests often feel more focused on the beasts and not really on Poppy or her story, so in that way, Poppy acts as a means to an end (cool interactions with beasts).

2Natsai Onai
Natsai, or Natti as she’s sometimes called, makes the number two spot on the list as the main companion from House Gryffindor. Natsai is a wizarding-student from Africa, and she has a cool way to cast spells using her hands instead of a wand. In terms of her quest line, Natsai is focused on helping magical children and her focus and story is one of the most compelling and emotional aspects in the game.
The reason she doesn’t get the number one spot is because her quests can seem repetitive and the action of the entire quest line gets a little monotonous, with an intriguing improvement to the story coming late in the game. Another aspect that keeps her from the number one spot is that many of her qualities are shown and not told. She’s an Animagus, for example, but not once does she change into an animal for players through the quest line.

1Sebastian Sallow
The twisting tale that Sebastian’s quest line takes players on is pretty amazing overall. No spoilers, but the companion quest line here may be the number one best story in the game, despite essentially being a side quest. Featured as the companion from House Slytherin, Sebastian Sallow’s pursuit of the dark arts comes as the result of a very honorable need to save his cursed sister. Though he is a Slytherin seeking out the dark arts, Sebastian is relatable, humble, and somewhat tragic. It’s through his narrative that a very compelling theme is explored: can dark magic be used to do good things?
Overall, the examination of this idea through Sebastian’s quest line comes with twists and turns that eventually allow players to learn the unforgivable curses likeThe Killing Curse. Although players can basically choose to go “dark side” or “light side” in Hogwarts Legacy, Sebastian is not the one that pushes this aspect and finishing his quest line won’t force players to learn the curses or use dark magic if they so choose.
