Every character, be it the protagonist or a supporting character, experiences highs and lows in their journey to achieve their goals. These highs and lows are part of the character’s journey and complete it. However, there is one character fromDragon Ballwho has only experienced tragedy and depression in his journey.

This character is none other than Future Trunks, the son of Vegeta and Bulma from an alternate reality. When Future Trunks was introduced in the story by Akira Toriyama, fans were excited to see another Saiyan entering theDragon Ballworld and believed that, just like others, he would bring a big change to the narrative. However, his own problems took over, and he lost his importance as the story progressed.
Whenever he is introduced in the story, he is dealing with some major world-changing problems that prove that he might be the worst-fated character in the entireDragon Ballseries. Fans believed that he deserved a little more fortuity, but Toriyama was just too cruel to him.

The Depressing Luck of Future Trunks inDragon Ball
Future Trunks came from a timeline where the entire Earth was destroyed by Android 17 and Android 18. He lost almost everyone he loved and had very little hope of living. However, he decided to change his present by going into the past and warning the Dragon team about the threats that were looming over their planet.

But his trip to the past was made even worse when he met Vegeta. This was because Vegeta refused to accept him as his son. Not only that, but when he went back, he found out that there were more Androids than in his timeline, and all of them were way stronger than the one he faced. This made his task even more stressful.
Also, he had to die at the hands of the strongest Androids among them, which certainly speaks for his luck in trying to save the world. Still, the team managed to bring him back after defeating the Androids, but it does not affect his future timeline much. He still has to fight the Androids, defeat them, and live in a war-torn world.

Even after that, his bad luck doesn’t end, as hisDragon Balltimeline is once again faced with the dangers of Zamasu, who looks exactly like Goku. The tragedy didn’t stop as Zamasu killed Bulma, the only person left in Future Trunks’ life, and once again he had to take the help of the mightiest heroes ofDragon Ball.
Dragon BallFans Wanted Future Trunks To Have A Little Bit of Happiness
Future Trunks inDragon Ballhas been sad and depressing since the beginning. This motivatedDragon Ballfans to talk about him and offer their opinion about what other factors, besides the narrative, hardened Trunks’ life even more. u/Donna201299 on Reddit found some other things that proved Trunks’ bad luck.
The first one among them was the way Vegeta treated Trunks when he first came to the present timeline.

Not only did he decide not to acknowledge him as his son, but he also wanted to make things tough for him during his battle against the Androids. Which is why he gave them a chance to enhance their powers.

The only sanity in Future Trunks’ life was his relationship with Mai, but even this relationship wasnever completely fulfilledas they hadn’t properly expressed their feelings yet. But nothing can be changed now, and it is highly unlikely that Trunks will return to theDragon Ballstoryline.
