Douglas is a manipulative octopus-like boss you’ll encounter early in your playthrough of High on Life. Initially posing as an adorable Dr. Joopy, he uses you to help him get back to his suit, so he can kill you.

It’s no fun being tricked by the bounty you were hired to kill, so when you finally get your chance to fight him, it isn’t just business, it’s personal. But going in guns blazing isn’t going to work. You’ll need a solid strategy to take him down. Here’s how to defeat Douglas and get out alive.
Rapid-Fire
Once the battle begins, Douglas will start by shooting some rapid-fire shots at you. Individually, these shots don’t do much damage. But if you get hit by a few, your shield will be drained quickly.
Luckily, it is pretty easy to avoid this attack. The best way to approach it is to continue moving. Try strafing from right to left while firing off shots and draining his health. You can also hide behind the objects in the room, but you likely won’t be able to do so for long before he circles around to you.

Wall Shots
Shortly after you start draining his health, Douglas will start jumping around the room using a very fast dashing move. He can do this to quickly get behind you and do some serious damage. Follow the trail of his movements until he stops on a column to fire at you.
Once he’s stopped, using Gus, fire your disk shot at Douglas to drop him to the ground. This will give you a very narrow window to run up and melee him with Knifey, doing a large amount of damage. Since the window is so narrow, it is easier to just keep shooting at him while he is briefly stunned.

High-Voltage Floors
While it is not exactly a direct attack, the high-voltage floors are the most challenging part of the entire battle. Douglas will start using them when you get his health to about the halfway point. Initially, only a few of the floor panels will be electrified at once. They’ll first start to glow blue, giving away which panels will hurt you. When they turn to purple electricity, they’ll actually do damage.
Douglas will continue to jump around the columns, firing at you while the panels are being electrified. Dodge them by standing on the inactive panels or by grappling using the bug above you. Since you will likely only get an occasional moment to shoot without getting hurt, it is easier to use Kenny for this part of the battle. Fire off shots when possible, and save your glob shot for the right moment. And while your glob shot is recharging, don’t forget to switch to Gus and fire off your disk blade. Just be sure to switch back to Kenny right after.

Douglas will also send out minions during this time. You can quickly kill them to get some of your shield back, or avoid them and wait for the electrified floors to take them out. This last part of the battle is really tough, so just continue to dodge as well as you can while laying down shots, and eventually, you’ll defeat Douglas and acquire a brand new Gatlian for your arsenal.
