TheShadow of the Erdtreelaunch trailer was the icing on top of a multilayer cake that has been on display for several months. WithElden Ringfans finally able to sink their teeth into the DLC, we can expect many of the community’s questions to be answered soon.

While Hidetaka Miyazaki has created a new realm for fans to explore, that doesn’t mean the game is entirely divorced from its predecessors. One scene harkens back to a specific title from the studio that may further emphasize a popular theory regarding game’s endings.
Shadow of the Erdtree Reveals Hints to Previous FromSoftware Title in Trailer
Hidetaka Miyazaki is no stranger to references from his previous work on new projects. There are some long-standing references, such as the Moonlight Greatsword, which has appeared in several FromSoftware games. Items and even enemies have endured across his titles, and they often form a connecting thread.
One such instance was revealed in the DLC launch trailer, and it may hint at some dimension-hopping instances. At the 1:20 mark, we see the Tarnished kneeling in front of a statue that is about the size of a child. Upon touching the statue, the Tarnished appears to fall asleep. We say this due to the heavy implications of who the statue may be.

Miyazaki has stated that St. Trina, another enigmatic figure from the base game, will feature in the DLC, and we will learn more about them. The statue could very well be that of St. Trina, as they are surrounded by what appear to be Trina’s Lily flowers and have the purple hue associated with them. Even St. Trina’s Torch and Sleeping Pots exude a similar hue, and all of them are used to apply the sleep status effect.
This is similar to how the Hunter inBloodborneinvades Micolash’s dream. He too touches an inert body, only to be transported to the nightmare and fight Micolash. We may have a similar sequence where we are transported to another plane of reality to find or interact with St. Trina.

Elden Ring Could Have Spawned All FromSoftware Games
Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games have always offered the player freedom to choose the ending they wish to experience. There are rarely any defined “good” endings, with each outcome offering a morally ambiguous result. But the endings ofElden Ringare a bit special, as some fans have theorizedthat the different conclusions could herald the spawning event for each of the studios’ games.

The Age of Frenzied Flame ending is said to have created the world ofDark Soulsand the Age of Stars ending is said to have brought the various Outer Gods and creatures we encounter inBloodborne. The Age of the Duskborn ending is said to be linked toDemon’s Souls, but it has also been linked toSekiro.
Miyazaki has previously confirmed that the ending of the DLC will have no bearing on the base game. But we may get a seventh ending that is reportedly an Age of Slumber and could be connected to St. Trina.
