When it comes to Henry Cavill’s typical day of eating, it all depends on his goals. When theArgylleactor is prepping for his role in action-packed films, he adjusts his nutrition and workout according to his needs.

Cavill’s morning routine sets the tone for his day. He typically starts his day with one and a half scoops of 100% grass-fed vanilla-flavored protein shake blended with a cup of oats and some berries. That’s only a part of his breakfast! The other part includes six ounces of beef filet with an omelet and ham. After his workout, Cavill usually takes a post-gym shake and consumes his second meal after two to three hours which includes chicken, white rice, and a side of curry sauce.

Lastly, Cavill’s day ends with a pre-bed shake which is about two hours before going to bed. Well, that’s some serious protein-induced meals.

Henry Cavill’s approach to fitness is to “find something you enjoy doing and do that when it comes to maintenance. The gym shouldn’t always be some sort of grueling, terrible slog.” The Justice League star shared his workout regimen at the time of filmingThe Witcherwhich also included strict pre-workouts. The actor explained he would get up every day at 4-4.30 am for physical therapy followed by sprints.

Cavill suggested that pre-workouts made an “enormous performance difference” as he could recover fairly after a 12-hour workday. Moreover, it helped the actor’s form, especially with his hamstring injury. The actor explained how the combination of rigorous training and inadequate nutrition can take a physical toll on the body. Cavill quipped that working with low calories plus a 12-hour work day can be pretty challenging, not to mention the relentless schedule filled with long shoots often extended over five or six days.

Either way, Cavill’s resilience doesn’t allow him to skip his workout whether its at the crack of dawn or at the end of a taxing day. He further expressed his discontent with his physical appearance, noting that his muscles appear “flat” rather than “full” despite his dedication and hard work. He continued,

“A good pre-workout—when I take it, I get that wicked good pump. And mentally you’re going, ‘I smashed it in the gym today. I can’t wait to go back and see that again.’ So for me, it’s psychological as well as physical.”

“A couple of weeks ago it was 100 front squats in body weight. We’ve been quite fond of doing the 100-repetition stuff recently and heavy as well. I’m trying to think of the other good stuff.”

Cavill discussed his workout routine with his friends explaining how they go for a series of exercises using weights where each person takes turns doing 10 repetitions. After one person finishes their set, the next person goes, and this continues until everyone has done their share. He admitted that this method helps keep everyone motivated and makes the workout feel like a team effort, adding up to 100 reps. Cavill also mentioned they focus on a lot of kettebell workouts which are great for building strength and endurance.

It involves exercises like Row 250m, holding two 24kg kettlebells in the rack position, rest for 45 seconds, and repeat until three rows and three racks are done.

The actor told Insider, “My trainer has for years now sent me a lot of plank work.” His core exercises include planks like standard ones, planks with shoulder taps, side planks, and stability ball planks. “You can have the most extraordinary abs in the world, but if you’re not lean enough, you can’t see them. But to make particularly aesthetic abs or a strong core, then yes, planks have worked for me.”
