Earlier this week, Hello Games released PS5 Pro support forNo Man’s Sky, which was bundled with an update that enabled a cross-save feature and cloud saving for the online action-adventure survival game.

While making a game have better frame rates and resolutionmightseem like a basic thing, it’s a lot of work – especially if you’re a small development studio like Hello Games. This sentiment was shared by Martin Griffiths, No Man’s Sky’s Engine Programmer.

No Man’s Sky PS5 Pro Integration Took 4-5 Months To Develop

Griffiths quote-tweetedHello Games boss Sean Murray’s tweet about No Man’s PlayStation 5 Pro support, and states, “I spent around 4-5 months of my time spread over the last year working on the#PS5Prosupport. This was a tough gig since we are one of smallest teams releasing today and also one of only a handful of games supporting both 4K and 8K, as well as PSVR2. I am immensely proud of playing a part in this release today - hope you all enjoy!”

For those curious, No Man’s Sky’s PS5 Pro support comes in the form of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) being added to the game, which delivers upscaling to provide crisp 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second. Not only that, but Hello Games confirmed that the space-faring game will be an early support of 8K resolution, which is targeted to run at 30fps.

No Man’s Sky Sees Largest Player Count Spike In Four Years Thanks To Game-Changing Update

No Man’s Sky’s newest update sees a huge spike of players on Steam within 24 hours.

Released back in 2016 initially for the PS4 and PC, No Man’s Sky had a troubled launch, as a lot of Sean Murray’s promises when it came to the game’s procedural generation system of its planets didn’t pan out exactly as planned. However, after a TON of game updates and free content drops, Hello Games managed to turn things around, and is often cited as one of the best redemption stories in the gaming industry, and proving that you may turn things around for a live service game with enough hard work. Since then, No Man’s Sky has seen a healthy player base, and up to this day, still gets regular updates that add new content for free.
