Heihachi Mishima has been announced asTekken 8’s third DLC character, as officially announced during the Tekken portion of this year’s Evolution Championship Series (EVO) 2024.
Heihachi first appeared as a boss character in the original Tekken and has been a mainstay in the series ever since. Heihachi perished at the end of Tekken 7’s story, a fair reason for him to not feature in Tekken 8’s launch roster. However, with this announcement, fans will be overjoyed to see him return later this year.

A very cool tease trailer was released accompanying the announcement, with the video culminating in a mini montage of Heihachi’s appearances throughout the years, and the final reveal that the legendary fighter has returned.
Tekken Exec Producer Considers A Waffle House Fight Stage
He didn’t exactly say no, either.
Talking toIGN, Katsuhiro Harada spoke about Heihachi’s return, remarking that both the fans and developers missed Mishima, pushing the team to bring him back.
“Tekken 7 really focused on the story arc between Heihachi and his son, Kazuya, and so, we really wanted to show that kind of final conclusion, and he seemed to die at that point,” Harada explained. “But then, after that happened, Tekken 8 was released, and we put a lot of effort into the story and the fans really seemed to be engaged with that. And as that was happening, we were kind of feeling that the players kind of missed him as well. Obviously, we did, too. So, it was kind of decided later on we would do that.”

Harada went on to say that Heihachi will continue to have a “powerful” play style, as he has had in past instalments. Accompanying Heihachi is the first-ever Tekken story expansion, which will be added as a free update for all players.
EVO 2024’s Tekken 8 portion concluded with Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique triumphing 3-2 over tournament runner-up Atif Ijaz, becoming a five-time EVO champion in the process.
