With the backdrop of a murder mystery, The newStar Warsshow tries to showcase a new tale within theStar Warsworld that explores the consequences of abandonment and the sinister uses of The Force.

With a rather underwhelming first four episodes, the fifth episode amped up the action and intensity with surprising deaths and revelations. The episode revealed the identity of the Sith Lord that has been teased since episode 1. However, some fans are still not convinced by the revelation and believe that there is a larger personality that’s pulling the strings.
The Acolyte‘s Terrifying Revelation In Episode 5 Is Being Questioned By Some Fans
Since the first episode ofThe Acolyte, the series has been teasing thatAmandla’s Stenberg‘s Mae is serving under a mysterious Sith Lord, and is killing various Jedi Masters. People have been guessing who this Sith Lord may be as the series progressed and the latest episode of the show answers this question (with many shocking consequences).
In episode 5,Maeis captured by Sol’s team and is in pursuit to catch the mysterious Sith Lord who escaped into the forest. As he tries to kill Mae, Jacki steps in and battles the mysterious warrior leading to one of theshow’s most thrillingaction sequences. Before she gets killed, Jecki manages to cut off the warrior’s mask, revealing the Sith Lord to be Qimir, Mae’s weapons supplier.

To not expose his identity further, he also kills Yord and goes toe-to-toe with Sol in his fight against him. This shows that Qimir is indeed very skilled in the ways of the Force and lives up to fans’ expectations of a Sith Lord. However, on X, some fans think that the show is intentionally leading them to believe that Qimir is the Sith Lord.
Qimir may be a stand-in character for the real villain, with the show playing with the audience’s expectations. They are expecting that a larger and more terrifying figure will be revealed as the true Sith Lord further towards the end of the show. Here are some of the reactions,

A Star Wars theory: They’re gonna do the thing where Qimir is the villain of the show & then in one final episode he’s gonna get squashed like a bug by a real Sith Lord, whoever it is in this part of the timeline. Plagueis? Tenebrous? End of show. Qimir is a wannabe.#TheAcolytepic.twitter.com/24d7pFaQc3

That would at least make sense. But Sol can’t survive. A sith revealing themselves to the Jedi? Like they should be in hiding.

I’m not an HR fan. However your post about the ending greatly intrigued me. Interested to see if you’re right.

Qimir is too skilled to be an Acolyte, so I think he’s the current apprentice. I do agree he’s going to be killed in the end, either by the Sith Lord or in a mutual death duel with Sol. I also believe he has some connection to Sol we don’t know about yet.

I have also been thinking this is possible

It’s why he’s searching for an “acolyte” and not an “apprentice”.
He’s not the final big bad.
God I love being inspired to theorize Star Was again. Don’t think I’ve really done that since after TLJ’s credits rolled.

“Man, that would be devastating”: The Acolyte Could Be Hiding One of Star Wars Best Plot Twists Ever in Plain Sight and It Could Redeem the Show
The theory sounds intriguing as this kind of huge reveal feels too early at this point in the show’s narrative. As mentioned by many fans, they may be playing a clever trick on them and later completely take them off guard with a more powerful villain reveal towards the ending.
Dafne Keen Was Convinced to Be InThe AcolyteBased On Leslye Headland’s Pitch For Jecki
Dafne Keenplayed Jecki Lon, Sol’s current young padawan inThe Acolyte. The character develops a kinship with Amandla Stenberg’s character Osha in the beginning episodes of the show. However, the latest episode had huge consequences for Jecki. For Keen, it was this unexpected arc that drew her to join the show.

In episode 5, Jecki is killed by Qimir who is revealed to be the Sith Lord. In an interview withEntertainment Weekly, Keen stated that the showrunner Leslye Headland informed her about the character’s death early on and she was thrilled about it. She said,
Honestly, that’s what really sold me. That was the first thing she said to me in our meeting. She was like, ‘You might be playing an alien and you die pretty early on,’ and I was like, ‘I’m in! I love playing dead!’.
Keen did a great job with the character, showing her earnest and loveable side while also being a capable fighter when the time comes. Her death came off as a big surprise in the episode and her fight with Qimir is one of its big highlights.Fans can watch the first 5 episodes ofThe Acolyteof Disney+.
