Chris Evans’s portrayal of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was simply perfect and to the point. The thing about everyone’s favorite superhero is that he is the noblest of the most noble out there. The man is the literal personification of bravery, honor, loyalty, and honesty. However, what happens when Captain America represents all the worst parts of the United States of America?

Chris Evans as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Thanks to Tatsuki Fujimoto, fans once got to see a glimpse of an “evil Captain America,” drawn by none other than the manga artist himself. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s work is unlike any other and there is no better example to support this clause than his critically acclaimed manga series,Chainsaw Man.It looks like Tatsuki Fujimoto took the liberty of showing the world what it would look like if our beloved Captain America was an antagonist in the series.

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Captain America is Unlike Anything You’ve Seen

When you think of Captain America, especiallyChris Evans’ version of the character, you hardly think of gore and violence but it looks likeTatsuki Fujimotohad a different idea. Back in 2021, the artist shared his version of Captain America that he drew himself, and let’s just say it is nothing short of a nightmare for those who idolize the hero.

In theartwork, you’re able to see Captain’s iconic shield placed on his head, covering half the face and revealing only a terrifying mouth. The silver star that usually sits proudly on the superhero’s chest has now multiplied in size and stabs him in the bottom of his face. The flag of the United States still flies behind him as he walks over the dead body of his enemy, holding guns and covered in the enemy’s guts.

While the artwork can have no actual meaning behind it, art always has space for you to read between the lines. InChainsaw Man,people’s fears are able to take physical form and are called the “devils.” For example, the Gun Devil represents the people’s fear of firearms and shootings. And if Fujimoto took a page out ofChainsaw Devilto create the Captain America Devil, it looks like the devil represents people’s fear of the USA’s power.

There’s no doubt to the fact that America is one of the most powerful nations in the world right now. While the citizens of the country may have one view of America, people living elsewhere may have a completely different opinion. Fujimoto’s illustration does a fantastic job of portraying the latter.

Fans React to Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Artwork

Fans were taken aback by Fujimoto’s gory and downright horrifying iteration of the honorable Captain America. Come on, can we blame them? Marvel fans have been used to seeing the superhero as the proud image of a perfect America. However, when versions like that of Fujimoto’s and Homelander fromThe Boysstart to show up, fans are often left with some hard-hitting questions.

Taking to X, fans couldn’t help but praise Fujimoto’s artwork calling him the best artist in the industry and stating that this was one of the best character designs they had ever seen. They also nicknamed the character, ‘America Devil.’

The way his own costume’s star stabs into the bottom of his face is such devilish inspiration.

It’s quite evident that Fujimoto has once again blown his fans’ minds away, just like he has been doing with his work over the past years. How can one person have so much talent?!
