One character in particular may have grand things planned in the future. Flame Emperor Sabo has already established his prowess in the series, and through a recent interview with Oda, it seems the character will reach his fullest potential soon.

Eiichiro Oda is Planning a Major Boost to Sabo’s Powers

After making theOne Piecefandom mourn the death of Sabo for years, Eiichiro Oda re-introduced the character again in episode 117, during the Post-War arc. Sabo reunited with Luffy during the Dressrosa arc and has since becomea central character in the storyas the Revolutionary Army’s chief of staff.

One Piece: Is Flame Emperor Sabo Officially More Powerful Than Fire Fist Ace? – Mera Mera No Mi Fruit Explained

Inan interview with SBS,Eiichiro Oda was asked about Sabo demonstrating his Devil Fruit powers (Mera Mera no Mi) to the fullest. And also whether he trained to properly use the Devil Fruit since he was quite inept at it after he freshly acquired it. Eiichiro Oda’s answer was:

He is training every day. I think that Sabo, who regained his memory, remembered a lot of things.

Sabo has come a long way since he acquired Mera Mera no Mi. He has undergone training to master his powers. He can also use the signature technique of Ace, the Hiken, which allows him to transform his arm into a large blast of fire. He can also use the flames to augment his Ryusoken style of battling and can imbue his powers into weapons.

Eiichiro Oda’s answer might indicate that Sabo is training even harder every day to reach the full potential of his Devil Fruit. This might lead to a huge power upgrade. Since he has already mastered the flames, he might soon be able to cover his entire body in flames like a suit made of fire.

Is Sabo Fated to Battle Akainu inOne PieceFinale?

It has already been established that the Mera Mera no Mi is inferior to the Magu Magu no Mi possessed by Akainu. This is due to the elemental hierarchy, as Magma is considered hotter than fire. This is what allowed Akainu to overpower Ace in the Marineford battle.Akainu was the onewho dealt the fatal last blow to Ace, causing the latter to succumb to his wounds.

SinceSabo is the sworn brother of Aceandhas also inherited his Devil Fruit,he has a deep desire to avenge Ace’s death. Thus, the one to face Akainu might not be Luffy but Sabo. Despite his Devil Fruit’s weakness against Magma, it is crucial for the character to overpower Akainu to bring the story to a full circle. If Sabo receives another upgrade to his powers in the meantime, it would help him take down the Fleet Admiral.

Forget Ace, Eiichiro Oda Has Foreshadowed an Even More Emotional Death for Shanks in Elbaph – One Piece Theory

Another alternative is Sabo initiating the battle with Akainu but having a hard time defeating the villain. This would be the perfect opportunity for Luffy to step in. He could not save Ace because he was too weak to do so during the Marineford War. But now that he has achieved Gear 5 and is growing stronger every day, Luffy will be able to overpower Akainu along with Sabo.

One Piecemanga is available to read on Viz Media, and the anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
