Narutois hailed as one of the ‘Big 3’ of anime and has an amazing cast, be it good, evil, or gray. Of them, Madara Uchiha remains one of the most feared antagonists, but his true power was never fully unleashed in the series. Even when Madara was toying with the Kage and the other shinobi, they could only remain helpless in front of him.

But this isn’t the full extent of Madara Uchiha’s strength! Madara’s devastating meteor jutsu,Tengai Shinsei, was an overwhelming and unavoidable attack in the Fourth Great Ninja War. It was so powerful that even Masashi Kishimoto had to nerf it (it never showed up again) to keep the narrative from collapsing.

If Madara had been allowed to useTengai Shinseiduring the subsequent battles, it could have wiped out everything, leaving Naruto, Sasuke, and the entire shinobi world doomed.

Madara’s Meteor Jutsu was way too powerful

Madara’s most impressive and flexing moment was when Madara fought the Five Kage and the Allied Shinobi Forces. During the fight, he dropped massive meteors (two spherical meteorites) from the sky usingTengai Shinsei.

The jutsu was one of the most destructive jutsu in the series, crushing thousands and forcing the heroes into being helpless.

After that time, Madara isn’t seen using that technique ever again. Both Sasuke and Naruto trained to be very strong, no doubt. But the entire ninja realm could not match up to Madara even without him hurling meteors at them, much less if he had.

Kishimoto’sNarutohad to end with the heroes teaming up and defeating the ‘Big Bad’ – which was Kaguya. Madara had to be lower than her, so the power-scaling was very important, leading toKishimoto’s choice of not letting this ability see the light again.

Why Kishimoto had to hold Madara back

If Madara had usedTengai Shinseiat full power, it wouldn’t have just been one or two meteors. If he can have his innumerable clones use Susanoo, he could definitely position himself safely and hurl down devastating meteors while using Edo.

The sheer scale of destructionwould have been impossible for Naruto, Sasuke, or anyone else to counter.

Madara utilising the Tengai Shinsei attack

WhileNarutois a power-driven narrative, with unique powers being pitted against one another, there are some abilities that are just broken. It is clear that Madara had many of these, and the meteor jutsu is a prime example.

There is basically no counter to the massive range of attack the meteor was, even the debris (if they managed to destroy it) would have led to mass destruction. Instead of a climactic final battle with the heroes clutching, the shinobi world might have beenreduced to rubble while everyone just watched helplessly.

While the debate about Madara being the hidden true villain is still on, there is no doubt that Madara was strong enough to wipe out all the shinobi from existence using this one jutsu.
