However, the question still remains about whether he would return as a villain or as an anti-hero who might just side with Luffy and his allies inOne Piece.There are speculations that he might be turned to the good side, as he already had a soft spot that many fans might have failed to notice before the Dressrosa arc inOne Piece.
The soft side of Donquixote Doflaming inOne Piece
When Doflamingo was first introduced inOne Piece,it was hinted that he might be the most heinous and menacing antagonist in the series. In fact, it was already portrayed that he was the cruelest warlord appointed by the World Government. Not only that, he was also the most influential underworld broker, which in a way hinted at his diabolical personality.

However, what manyOne Piecefans wouldn’t have noticed is that Doflamingo had a soft side that was only for the people of his crew whom he considered his family. The biggest example of this was his former allies Vergo and Monet. While both of them, in a way, sacrificed themselves, Doflamingo honored their sacrifices and showed grief towards their death inOne Piece.
Ideally, a terrifying villain like Doflamingo would have treated them as expendable and not given a second thought to their demise. But Doflamingo genuinely cared for them, and this was Oda’s way of portraying the soft spot that Doflamingo had in his heart for his allies inOne Piece.
Doflamingo might have a chance at redemption
It has been proved multiple times thatOne Pieceis the most twisted story in history and even dangerous villains like Crocodile have been redeemed in some way. Thus, ifEiichiro Odadoes redeem Doflamingo, it won’t come as a major shock toOne Piecefans. In fact, there are many who have been hoping for it since the beginning.
Considering his soft spot for his allies andhis connection to Corazon, one of the best-written characters inOne Piece, it is safe to assume that Doflamingo’s chances of redemption are quite high.
However, his link with the Celestial Dragons means that he won’t make an appearance until the narrative of the unofficial rulers of theOne Pieceworld is explored.
