There’s a lot left to be discovered in betweenGod of War IIIand 2018’s franchise revivalGod of War. When we last saw Kratos at the end ofGoW3, he had taken down Zeus before then seemingly escaping from Greece. When we meet back up with the protagonist inGod of War, he now has a son, Atreus, and he’s worked on his anger issues just a bit. So what exactly happened to Kratos in the time between these two entries? Well, we’re about to find out.

Dark Horse is set to release a new comic book series calledGod of War: Fallen Godlater this summer that will explore the time period between these two games.God of War: FallenGodwill be written by Chris Roberson and will feature artwork done by Tony Parker. Dan Jackson will be the one coloring the series while John Roshell is the one doing the lettering. The first issue is set to arrive later this year on July 27, 2025.

Here’s the official description ofFallen God:

“God of War: Fallen Godfollows Kratos after conquering Zeus and thwarting Athena. Believing himself to be finally free of his bondage, he sets sail for the desert in an attempt to distance himself from his home and his shame only to find his rage and guilt follow close behind. Kratos rages against the one foe that has proven to be unconquerable—himself. But a war against oneself is unwinnable, and only invites madness.”

An additional description forGod of War: Fallen Godstates that the comic book series will find Kratos living his life in the Norse wilds. It is here that he then starts to work on putting his anger and rage behind him before coming into contact with a local cult. The story ofFallen Godbegins around this point and then starts to fill in the gaps prior to the events ofGod of War. Just how much we’ll learn about Kratos' journey beforeGoWtakes place remains to be seen, though.

For now,Fallen Godis the only new piece ofGod of Warmedia that is set to release in the future, although aninevitable sequelfromSanta Monica Studiois surely set to arrive down the road. Whenever that project does drop, it’ll surely be coming to Sony’s new, next-gen platform, thePS5.
