After months of waiting, fans are finally blessed with a new update onThe Winds of Winter. Author George R.R. Martin delivered great news about the upcoming spinoff seriesA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and he also addressed his future plans after finishing the novel.

Now, this should already get us all excited as he promised to work on the other stories he has mentioned to write, and that hopefully includes the Braavos tale that was once being developed at HBO.
Latest update onThe Winds of Winterfrom George R.R. Martin
Among the projects thatGeorge R.R. Martinis currently working on,The Winds of Winteris perhaps the most urgent of all. It’s been a long-overdue task that he had more than a decade to finish, and after his latest entry onNot a Blog, it seems like we’re going to hold the precious book in our hands very soon.
“I might be faster if I did”: George R.R. Martin Utterly Disregarding 1 Proven Writing Technique Is Why ‘Winds of Winter’ Is Far From Finished After 14 Years
The author announced thatA Knight of the Seven Kingdomsis finished, and he is quite satisfied with the outcome. He also talked about moving on to the next adaptation of theTales of Dunk & Eggnovella series, but he promised before—and reaffirmed again—that he won’t write another story until he has finishedThe Winds of Winter.
Meanwhile, we’ll be moving on to “The Sworn Sword,” the second tale of Dunk & Egg. And once I finish THE WINDS OF WINTER, I will need to get hopping on “The Village Hero,” and all the other tales that await the lads.

The last part of his statement already brings us hope that Martin will be able to writetheBraavosstory he promised usafter revealing HBO scrapped the project years ago. He was very keen on exploring this particular part of Westeros, especially afterGame of Thronesfailed to do it justice during Arya Stark’s time with the Faceless Men.
Once he gets around to writing the story, HBO might reconsider picking it up again now that they have an available source material to translate onto screen. Braavos has a fascinating history and culture that avid fans of the franchise might want to revisit in the near future.

Why we need aBraavosspinoff
TheBraavosspinoff is an opportunity to redeem Arya Stark’s storyline set in the Free Cities. We’ve seen her training across two seasons, but we never had an in-depth knowledge of what happens inside the House of Black and White (outside of Arya and Jaqen H’ghar’s interactions) and with other members of the Faceless Men.
“After Winds of Winter is done”: HBO Needs to Revive a Canceled Game of Thrones Spinoff George R.R. Martin Promised Will Be His Next Book
This was one of the most overlooked narratives in the original series, and Martin is aware of this—why else would he want to write a Braavos-centered story? The Faceless Men play a more crucial part in the ongoing novel series than what was demonstrated in the show, and their story certainly deserves to get its own adaptation.
Game of Thronesis currently available to watch on HBO.
