Fortniteplayers around the world were patiently waiting for today’s Item Shop reset, eager to spend their V-Bucks and get their hands on some new skins. Sadly, millions of Fortnite players have now been left confused after today’s Item Shop rotation saw the store go completely empty.
This is the first time in Fortnite’s history that the in-game Item Shop has had nothing in it, leaving many scratching their heads. Shortly after the incident occured, the official Fortnite Status account informed players that they were looking into the issue, with a fix currently in the works. However, Epic also stated that players “may notice their purchases fail to complete and the number of offers fluctuating over the next few hours.” Thankfully, failed purchases won’t actually charge you, according to Epic.

The leak comes directly from the Xbox store, which claims Chapter 5 Season 1 will be titled ‘Underground’.
At the time of writing this article, we can confirm that the Item Shop once again appears to be back online, at least for us here in the United Kingdom. However, Epic has yet to release an update on the matter, so it’s possible that players around the world are still experiencing issues with the Item Shop.
Although the empty Item Shop was nothing more than a bug, Epic also confirmed that Winterfest would be kicking off this weekend to coincide with the release of v28.00, which is more commonly known as Chapter 5 Season 1. Taking toX(formerly known as Twitter) Epic said, “Hoping to bring the gift of communication to those in the Winterfest spirit already! There’s a lingering chill… but not quite freezing temperatures. We’ll be rolling out Winterfest-themed Shop items starting with v28.00.”
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 is set to kick off this weekend after another massive live event. The event will feature musical genius Eminem and will mark the conclusion of Fortnite OG, a huge nostalgia trip that saw Fortnite reach blistering new heights in terms of player count.
