Depending on how you want to free-roam and what you want to do, there are actually a few points of no return explained below without giving any spoilers. Thebest time to complete side content with every region opened will be right at the start ofChapter 12,before arriving at the Gold Saucer. Entering the Gold Saucer willcut off fast travel and progress the story,but the rest of the world can be explored at your leisure.
While playerscan free-roam after the main events of Chapter 12 and before going to Chapter 13, things with the party will be slightly different, and those who want to explore with everything as usual should do so before the main events at the Gold Saucer in Chapter 12. For the few events in the Gold Saucer playerswant to complete, they can be done as usual at the end or beginning of Chapter 11 or at the end of Chapter 12.
