Fans Want Jenna Ortega to Join Netflix’s Fear Street Franchise
The Fear Street Trilogyhit Netflix in 2021, chronicling a group of teenagers’ encounter with the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for centuries.
The trilogy, which premiered over three consecutive weeks on the streaming platform, is adapted from R.L. Stine’sFear Streetbook series. Now, the author has confirmed Netflix has given the green light for the development of anotherFear Streetmovie.
“Movie News: I can finally announce that a new Fear Street movie is about to go into production for Netflix,”Stine wrote onX.
This installment will be adapted from Stine’sThe Prom Queen. The 1992 novel is part of hisFear Streetbook series. The story follows Lizzie McVay, who finds out that someone is murdering the five Prom Queen candidates one by one – and that she may be next on the list.

As per a report inVariety, Ortega dropped out ofScream 7because of scheduling conflicts withWednesday Season 2. As such, whether she would be available for a newFear Streetmovie remains unclear.

What Willem Dafoe Said About Jenna Ortega’s Beetlejuice 2
The new queen of horror is also appearing inBeetlejuice 2, a follow-up to Michael Keaton’s 1988 horror comedy about a ghost who’s recruited to help haunt a house. The 21-year-old will play the role of Lydia’s (Winona Ryder) daughter.
Willem Dafoeis going to be another new face in Tim Burton’s film. The actor recently spoke toDeadlineand insisted the sequel isn’t a money grab.
“I think it’ll be a lot of fun,”Dafoe said.“Because the spirit of it was very good. It’s very much there. It’s not a money grab. The feeling’s still there. And, of course, a lot of the same people came back. And they were there — they were really there in a full way.”
Much has been written about Keaton’s reunion with Burton, but this project also reunites Ortega with the filmmaker, who both directed a fewWednesdayepisodes and served as executive producer of the hit series.Beetlejuice 2is scheduled to release on August 14, 2025.
