Portgas D. Rouge is the wife of Gol D. Roger and the mother of Portgas D. Ace. While nothing much was shown about her in the anime, she is quite easily one of the most potent characters in Eiichiro Oda’s magnum. During the Marineford arc, Sengoku was revealing Portgas D. Ace’s personal details. He mentioned the story of his mother, and it literally shocked the world.
After Gol D. Roger’s execution, the Marines were looking for his unborn child. They were ordered to examine all the pregnant women, and if any of them looked suspicious, they were to be killed. After Portgas D. Rouge came to know about such developments, she did the unthinkable to save her unborn child. She kept Ace in her womb for 20 months so that the Marines would not kill him.
She did it at the cost of her life. After baby Ace was born, she held him and loved him. Soon after, she passed away, leaving her child to Monkey D. Garp. This feat might not be much for people who want the adrenaline rush of watching the Haki andDevil Fruit usersclash. But this is one of the strongest feats in One Piece.

Portgas D. Rouge was the reason why Portgas D. Ace lived. But it was not easy, as it required her to sacrifice herself to save him. She kept him in her womb for 20 months, which is almost a year more than the expected delivery date. It happened because she wanted to protect her child at any cost. Her willpower was so strong that she managed to subdue all the pains of achieving this fate.
A mother’s love is the strongest power in nature. Not even Monkey D. Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi and Shanks’Conqueror’s Hakican top it. She is the proof that physical strength is not the ultimate power.
