Emily Blunt has had one of the most successful careers in Hollywood. FromThe Devil Wears Prada, toA Quiet Place, and nowOppenheimer, versatility is one of her strongest suits. She has played serious role, funny roles, complex roles, and even a flying woman. Through her talent, she has earned respect and an Oscar nomination, proving herself to be a force to be reckoned with.

However, there will always come a movie in an actor’s career, which will tank in ratings and be a massive flop. The experience is unavoidable, and unfortunately Blunt is not exempt from it. In 2010, the actress starred in a movie calledTheWolfman. The film was a massive flop and found it very difficult to maintain relevant.

More than a decade later, it would seem that the movie is being re-adapted into something that may be much better, all thanks to Leigh Whannell.
Emily Blunt and Her 2010 Disaster
In 1941,a movie calledThe Wolf Manwas released, following a story full of werewolves, mystery, and death. The film was directed by George Waggner, an extremely respected director at the time and became a classic in the years to come. So much so that in 2010, Joe Johnston decided to remake it. The remake had a lot in its favor.
Johnston was extremely respected in the industry, having directedCaptain America: The First Avenger.Additionally, it had an excellent cast; including Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, and of course,Emily Blunt. Despite having all the best tools, the movie was not successful.

Holding a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie worked as a great disappointment for the fans of everyone involved. Even though Blunt’s performance was impeccable, fans of the original could not help but feel insulted at the mockery of their beloved film.
The Wolf Man Has Another Shot
The underwhelming response toEmily Blunt’sThe Wolfmanseemed to have been so drastic that fans needed something better. This is where Leigh Whannell, best known forInsidiousandSaw, entered the picture. It was recently announced byDiscussing Filmon X that filming on a new remake of the 1941 film has began.
This time being calledWolf Man, the movie is set to star Christopher Abbott, who is best known forSanctuary, and Julia Garner, who was a part ofInventing Anna.

Since the movie requires serious elements of mystery, as well as complex interactions with characters that create tension, Whannell would be the perfect person for the job. Fans of the original now only hope for the new movie to be better that the last.
