Helldivers 2is one of the greatest surprises that PlayStation has put out for this console generation, and game director Johan Pilestedt is more than happy to take charge. Despite having the responsibility to lead a game studio, Pilestedt still finds the time to play video games.

Johan Pilestedt is the game director of Helldivers 2 and serves as the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios.

Larian Studios came out swinging withBaldur’s Gate 3,and the game has received countless accolades and universal praise from both critics and gamers alike. However, the studio is ready to move on and Pilestedt fully supports the decision.

Helldivers 2 Director Wanted More Baldur’s Gate 3 Content

If something is too good, people will naturally seek out more of the same content, However, Larian Studios is comfortable with leaving the game as it is to pursue something different, and despite wanting more, Pilestedt understands the team wholeheartedly.

I actually wish for a BG3 DLC – but I respect Larian whichever direction they go in. Either way is the Chad move since I know they’ll follow their heart(s).

Despite It Being a Live Service Title, Johan Pilestedt Wants to See Helldivers 2 Listed Alongside PlayStation’s Other All-Time Classic Exclusives Like God of War and Uncharted

Pilestedt is well aware of Larian Studios’ decisionto leave the universally praised game untoucheddespite the high demand for expansions or sequels because the developers are more passionate about developing newer projects. Being a CEO can be quite time-consuming and tiring, but Pilestedt was a gamer first and a game developer second, andNintendo deserves all the creditfor shaping his youth and leading him to the path of game development.

Passion may not help draw attention from the gaming community, and companies can’t make a profit out of it as much, but what Larian Studios did is a bold move that should be commended. Standing up for what the team believes is right and not using the video game as a cash cow or milking it for what it is worth by developing new content. Sometimes it is fine to walk away, especially if there is something better on the horizon.

Johan Pilestedt is a Fan of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Larian Studios

It is wholesome to see game developers support one another, Pilestedt is probably familiar with the current dilemma that Larian Studios is going through, and to see developers stand up for their beliefs and not falter to the temptation of corporate greed is a sight to see. The game industry is large and has enough room for the developers to share what they are working on, and the gaming community should be more welcoming and less demanding.

Insomniac’s Spider-Man and Larian’s Astarion Prove to be Gaming’s Most Wholesome Bromance after BAFTA’s Red Carpet Moment

Larian Studios might be missing out on a great opportunity if they choose not to expand the franchise beyond the main game. However, if they don’t have the same level of passion for the project, any extension could feel soulless and devoid of the same caliber that made the base game universally praised. This could potentially tarnish its reputation and disappoint fans, who have come to expect high quality from Larian Studios.

Players can simply boot up a game whenever they feel the need to. Johan Pilestedt may be the head of a game studio that worked on one of the best live-service games at the moment, but he is also a game developer with a spine to express his thoughts and provide support to fellow developers.

Baldur’s Gate 3 and Helldivers 2 are both equally great games for this console generation.
