Dragon’s Dogma 2has been one of the biggest and best RPG experiences of 2024 so far, with players trekking through the lush region of Vernworth and the craggy hills of Battahl to right the wrongs between the two nations in their quest to slay the titular dragon. While most of the action in the game is centered around these two regions, there’s always the possibility that more is left out there to be discovered.
And one player thinks they may have found a hint to what’s next in store for the Arisen. If they’re right, then future plans for Dragon’s Dogma 2 could be takingand our Pawnsus on a journey to the frozen north.

Set A Quest For Magnetic North?
The big hint as to what might be in store for a possible Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC expansion hides in plain sight in one of the vanilla game’s loading screens. As pointed out on Redditby user Dense_Hotel, the loading screen in question reads as follows:
The north of the continent is said to be home to an ancient nation, but records of its existence are scarce, and there has been no contact with its people for over a century.

When first reading that screen, the player said they had assumed the screen’s text was referring to the Ancient Battleground, a section of northern Vernworth now devoid of most life, except for some tough monsters, and jam-packed with abandoned towers, gates, and ballistae. “But hearing about the leaks being in a new swamp and snow area make it seem like this loading screen its referring to that land.”
Geographically, it would make sense that the northern lands would would be in a colder climate makes sense. While there’s not a lot of discussion about the heat, the starting area (after the prologue) of Vernworth seems to be a temperate forest, while southern Battahl is much more arid and at least seems like it would be a hot, dry place to live.

What Else Could Future DLC Bring Us?
If this is in fact the big hint as to what’s next for Dragon’s Dogma 2, it really only tells us the where, but not the who, the what, and so on. So what else might we see?
Well,Capcom’s not exactly forthcoming with that information, but fan demand has already influenced the game by leading the developers to scrap its original intent of not letting the player start a new game once one is already in progress. If the company continues to listen to the fans, based on this thread, it seems like they want to see a bunch of newarmor and weapons, especially if they’re themed to fit the frozen lands hinted at in the loading screen, as well as new (meaning not reskinned) monsters for us to slay.

As for the people who populate this forgotten northern kingdom, one player, UmbraIntus, had an interesting idea that might explain that the general absence of elves from the world is that most of them live in this northern realm. While you can find a small community ofelves in the Sacred Arbor, as well as one elvish NPC in Vernworth who will ask for your aid in passing his trial of archery, that one tiny community is hardly enough to cover an entire race of people. As another Reddit user, AdGroundbreaking1700, stated, “theyre just 1 sect of elves; nothings to say the whole north isnt elvish. Thanks to monsters; normal people dont really travel.”
