Toei Animation confirmsDragon Ball Daimais 100% canon and connects toDragon Ball Supersince Universe 7 was referenced early on. Akira Toriyama’s swan song,Dragon Ball DAIMA, has been diving deep into the franchise’s lore.

Dragon Ball Daimahas introduced a wide assortment of new villains, most notable among them being the Tamagamis, the guardians of the Demon Realm Dragon Balls. Fans were shocked to discover the hidden Tamagami reference inDBZ, especially sinceDAIMAhadn’t even been confirmed at the time.

Dragon Ball DAIMA: The surprising Tamagami reference found inDBZ

WithDAIMA‘s premiere, Toei carries forward Toriyama’s lasting legacy, ensuring it lives on forever. The anime follows the story of Goku in the nebulous Demon Realm before he and the rest ofDragon Ball‘s cast find themselves transformed into mini-kid versions of themselves.

DAIMAEpisode 1confirms the series’ new placein the overallDragon Balltimeline before Beerus and Whis’ arrival during the Battle of Gods arc.

Unlike its predecessors,Dragon Ball DAIMAis not set on Earth, introducing fans to many new characters from the Demon Realm, andadding a fresh twistto the series.

Dragon Ball DaimaEpisode 11 elaborated on the Namekians born from the Demon Realm through Neva, the elder Namek who created the Demon Realm Dragon Balls, and the Tamagami guardians.

The Tamagami are a trio of powerful entities created by Neva to act as protectors of the Demon Realm Dragon Balls. Because of their strength, no one in the Demon Realm would be able to have a wish granted for a long time.

DAIMArevealed that the Tamagami are themost powerful warriorsin the Demon Realm, even surpassing the strength of the Demon King Dabura.

The latest episode teased the history between Neva and Katatz, the Namekian that gave birth to the Nameless Namekian, who split in two to create Demon King Piccolo and Guardian Kami.

Like many former Demon Realm residents, the Namekians, like Katatz, immigrated to different universes after the multiverse was formed. This led to the establishment of the planet Namek, which strongly resembles the Demon Realm version in the Second Demon World.

Interestingly, fans recently spotted the shocking reference to the Tamagami back inDBZ, the most iconic and fan-favoriteDragon Ballseries. Interestingly, on Planet Namek, fans can spot that the old Namekian house resembles the Tamagamis.

This revelation is truly shocking, especially sinceDAIMAwasn’t even in development at the time. If Akira Toriyama had planned this ahead, it would elevate him to an even more legendary status than fans already recognize.

WhyDAIMAis accountable for Goku’s worst depiction yet

Even though Mini Goku is physically younger than Kid Goku, there’s no excuse for a 40-year-old Goku to be less mature than a 12-year-old version of himself. On top of that, Vegeta and Piccolo are still behaving as they always have, leaving Goku no excuse for hisoverly annoying and childish behavior.

Nothing about Goku’s character inDragon Ball Zindicates he is as foolish as he is portrayed inDAIMAand the rest of the modernDragon Ball.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Resorts to Cheap Tricks to Make Vegeta a Pitiable Character

DAIMAmay be in the crosshairs today, but it didn’t start the trend of a dumbed-down Goku. This is how modernDragon Ballhas been writing Goku for years now.

The manga does a moderately better job but still suffers from making Goku toosimplistic and easy-going. This isn’t about writers who aren’t Akira Toriyama failing to understand Goku, though.

Toei has shifted its focus to a younger audience, which has resulted in the creation of this simplified,“dumbed-down” version ofGoku. Unless major changes happen, we may be stuck with this overly simplistic and foolish Goku for a long time.
