Drag X Drive is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in a month. Except, for a few of you, no it isn’t. You’re actually getting it the weekend prior!

The game - a wheelchair-backetball sports game and JoyCon tech demo all in one, follows in the footsteps ofARMSfor theoriginal Switch console. ARMS was great fun, thoughit had its own problemsthat Drag x Drive will need to avoid.

GameStop will even provide a Certificate of Authentcity for this now-legendary tool.

But before the game even gets off the ground, Nintendo will be letting some players come in and give it a try. How do you get in? The most predictable way imaginable: by being a Nintendo Switch Online member.

Per a post on X, the exact dates and times of the event line up with the weekend before the official launch of Drag x Drive. There will be three sessions total, each one only lasting for a few hours. So if you’re looking to get hands on balls early (who doesn’t?), you’ll have to plan ahead.

AsGameranxpoints out, this early tryout tactic is exactly what Nintendo’s done for other games, namelySplatoon. Seems like an effective way to get the game into people’s heads shortly before they get a chance to buy.

Here’s Why Nintendo Underestimated Switch 2 Demand

Drag X Drive Wants To Show Off The Switch 2’s Mouse Controls

Much like ARMS, Drag x Drive intends to show off the tech used in Nintendo’s JoyCon controllers. This time around, mouse controls are the name of the game, and you’ll be dragging them around to drive your wheelchair across the court. One controller for each of your athlete’s hands.

It all feels very ‘immersive’ to the whole wheelchair-basketball experience, though obviously it’s hard to see how immersive things can get until you’re actually on the court yourself. Luckily, you’re able to just go do that.

And if you don’t (or can’t), you won’t have to wait much longer for the actual release date of Drag x Drive. That’s on the 14th of August - a Thursday. Perhaps not quite as convenient as a weekend launch, but a digital download like this isn’t going anywhere. The Nintendo Switch 2 has a pretty thin library of games right now, so this could be a quick and cheap way to get some variety on there.

And there was much rejoicing.
