John Cena made a surprise return to the world of WWE when he showed up to help American Nightmare Cody Rhodes during his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship title match against Roman Reigns. At the event, Rhodes made history by pinning Reigns and capturing the title, thus finishing his story.

However, during his in-ring celebration, Cena had some words of wisdom for the newly minted Champion. Later, Cena revealed what he said to Rhodes, who is just embarking on his title run, and Cena’s words had hints of a humbling, but poignant, warning for the American Nightmare. John Cena Reveals What He Told Cody Rhodes After WrestleMania 40 Win
John Cenawas one of the WWE greats who were present to tackle the threat of the Bloodline during the main event atWrestleMania 40. Cody Rhodes defeated Reigns to end the latter’s over-1000-day run as champion with help from Cena, who took out Solo Sikoa and faced The Rock.
During Rhodes’ celebration, Cena passed on some advice to the new champion, having himself held the WWE Championship a record 13 times. Cena later appeared on the backstage press show,The Pat McAfee Show, where he revealed his interaction withCody Rhodes.

“He had the championship in his right hand. I said, do you feel it? ‘He said ‘yes.’ I said, ‘Do you feel how heavy it is?’ He said ‘yes.’ I said it will get heavier every day because that is the burden you bear of trying to craft the path to being the greatest of all time.”

Cena made the above statement, revealing words of wisdom and a slight warning to Rhodes at the start of his title run. Cena’s words are certainly understandable as he has been one of the most prominent Champions in the WWE and carried the weight of being the public face of the company during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

During his post-WrestleMania 40 appearance onThe Pat McAfee Show, Cena also addressed his future within the WWE and wrestling as a whole. Cena’s appearance at WrestleMania was his first since November 2023’s Crown Jewel event. Meanwhile, Cena has also been busy with his Hollywood projects.
While speaking with the hosts, Cena revealed that he was heading to fulfill his filming commitments following WrestleMania 40. He’s working on the action filmHeads of Statewith Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba, followed by the filming ofPeacemakerseason 2, which he expects to wrap up by Christmas 2024.

“That will take us to just about Christmas. I’m crossing my fingers and toes and my heart that maybe, just maybe, I can tell the Hollywood world to pump the breaks for a while and come back to my family for one last run. I’m trying, I hope [so], we’ll see what happens.”

Cena made the above statement providing a rough window for his WWE return. However, Cena desired to have one last proper WWE storyline before he finally called it quits from professional wrestling. As a result, he heavily implied thathe was aiming to wind down his WWE careerwithin the span of a year or so. He also briefly appeared on RAW after WrestleMania, where he teamed up with Awesome Truth.
