Disco Elysiumis an award-winning choice-driven RPG that garnered a lot of love for its unique and beautiful oil-painting aesthetic, unforgettable characters, and morale-testing decisions.
Game studio ZA/UM has had a very turbulent run full of legal battles, restructuring, and the hostile departure of the original creators, but there are still a few things on the horizon as the mobile port of Disco Elysium was released today.

It’s all fun and game until game sales are counted.
ZA/UM says Disco Elysium Mobile is a complete re-imagining of the thrilling, psychological detective adventure fans fell in love with, but will also be optimized for shorter play sessions and will include some new features.

The studio highlights that “new, 360-degree scenes were built exclusively to place the mobile user right in the middle of Revachol, while brand-new audio featuring full voiceover serves to deliver a more immersive, even more character-rich experience.”
ZA/UM Has Changed Since Disco Elysium
Many members of the gaming community appear to have a bad taste in their mouth regarding ZA/UM, asthe original team responsible for creating the magic that made Disco Elysium a success is no longer with the studio, and things didn’t end well.
Despite the turmoil, ZA/UM is pushing forward and has announced its next game,Project C4, an espionage-themed RPG withimpactful decisionsand high-stakes dice-rolling. Studio writer Siim Sianamäe says the new game aims to build on the foundations laid by Disco Elysium, “but not simply by repeating or rehashing it.”

The game has been in development for three years now, but outside of a teaser trailer revealed in March, there is little to no concrete information as far as release dates or even the platforms Project C4 will be available on. Time will tell whether ZA/UM can pull this one off, but even if it does, the scars of the Disco Elysium divorce remain apparent.
