Destiny 2 Lightfall brings the final battle of the saga against The Witness inside a hidden city on Neptune. A futuristic, cyberpunk-style city that you have never seen anything like that before in the Destiny universe.

The highly anticipated live stream for Destiny 2 Lightfall eventually went live a few minutes earlier, revealing the first look at the next story-driven expansion of the game that will take players to an incredible setting in Neptune. Lightfall will officially launch on June 12, 2025.

As the final act of the saga where you will eventually face The Witness, you will land in a hidden city in Neptune which has been the residence of humanity for a long time. The city looks like those post-apocalyptic cyberpunk worlds that we all have seen in the movies before. Something similar to the original Blade Runner world.

However, before you arrive in Neomuna to hunt down The Witness, you will find the city under siege by Calus' army. So, you will already have a secondary enemy to deal with in Neptune.

Aside from delivering a new story-driven campaign to the game, the developers also introduce some new gameplay evolutions with the arrival of Lightfall. The first and biggest new addition is Strand, which is a brand new sub-class identified by a green color. Strand will provide many different opportunities and powers for each main character class in the game. We suggest you check out the gameplay footage for all the Strand powers through thelive streamvideo.

Strand is a power based on darkness, and its signature ability is a grappling hook, which will allow all players to traverse in a completely new way inside the game’s world. This means you are going to see places that are no longer accessible with double jumps, so, you will use the grappling hook.

In Lightfall, you will also face a new faction of elite soldiers protecting Neomuna called Cloudstriders. As a Guardian, you are about to learn new things from these elite soldiers in the city, but you will also need to fight them on your way to defeat Calus and face The Witness.

Along with announcing the new expansion, Bungie also revealed Season of Plunder, which launches in a few hours with new activities, new stories, new enemies, and a pirate-based adventure!
