In a recentblog post,Bungierevealed that it has decided to release a live update forDestiny 2that unlocks all the Fragments within the Strand subclass for all players. The change comes in response to the negative reaction from players to the new subclass introduced in Lightfall.

Originally, some of the Strand Fragments were supposed to be unlocked next Tuesday, while some others required the release of the Roots of Nightmares raid, but the developer has changed its plans as complaints around Strand continued to mount in the last few days.

Most players find Strand too underwhelming after finishing the Lightfall campaign as it doesn’t deliver the same experience in the live world of Destiny 2. Long story short, the ability cooldowns for Strand in campaign missions has been drastically reduced to make it feel powerful, but once you beat the story and get to use the new subclass in the universe, the long cooldowns become huge barriers.

While Bungie still needs more feedback to balance Strand’s basic parameters, the developer decided to unlock all Fragments today, so players can get to modify their Strand builds with more options, and provide comprehensive feedback to the developer about it. Overall, most players believe that Strand is too underpowered against subclasses like Void and Solar.

Keep in mind that you will still need the Strand Meditations currency to purchase the unlocked Fragments, which you may get from doing all the regional activities in Neomuna or defeating powerful bosses in the city. This opens up the opportunity for players to start their trial-and-error process with the new subclass before the new raid arrives.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, Strand may be needed for figuring out the new raid’s puzzles or defeating the bosses, as Bungie mentions that unlocking the Strand Fragments is to make sure “everyone has a solid raid experience next week.”

Roots of Nightmares will go live on March 10. Unlike previous raids, the contest mode for Lightfall’s raid will last for 48 hours, which simply means you have more time to beat the raid at launch and claim its exclusive rewards.
