Catching fish is a brand-new feature inDestiny 2introduced with the arrival of Season of the Deep. After all the fights and battles, you may relax next to a river and enjoy your free time catching fish. And the best part is it will actually pay off by completing Triumphs and earning seasonal progression.

In order to teach you all the basics of catching fish, Bungie has implemented a new quest called “Gone Fishing,” which can be unlocked after finishing the intro missions of Season of the Deep. One of the steps in this quest requires you to catch fish in the outskirts of EDZ, but it doesn’t really provide an exact marker or any additional explanation.
How To Find The Outskirts Of EDZ
Once you fast-travel to EDZ, you need to head to the southern outskirts, which does have a wide river. If you follow the path along the river, you should be able to see a beam of blue light looking upward from a certain location. That is the exact location of catching fish. Unfortunately, the marker on the map shows somewhere else which is quite confusing.
If you reach the beam of light, you will spot a round wooden port on the river with fish banners around. If you stand on top of the port next to the river, an interaction key will pop up, telling you that you’re able to start fishing by holding the button.
How To Catch Fish In Outskirts Of EDZ
Keep in mind thatyou need to have baitto be able to catch fish. Without bait, you cannot participate in fishing. Bait can be achieved from seasonal activities and patrols. Each attempt to catch fish will consume one bait.
One more thing to note about fishing is the fact that there shouldn’t be any public events in the area. When a public event is active in the range of the fishing spot, the fishing port will disappear only to appear again when the event is over.
The process of catching fish does require fast reactions if you want the best result. When you start fishing, keep an eye on the bottom of the screen and hold the interaction button as soon as you spot the “Perfect Catch” title on the screen. The Perfect Catch will only be available for a short duration. If you may’t press and hold the button within the timeframe, the phrase will change to “Catch.” With a Perfect Catch, you have a higher chance to get more valuable fish. There are dozens of different fish available to catch with different rarity and values. If you miss the “Catch” timeframe as well, you won’t be able to catch anything, which results in wasting bait.
You can release your collected fish at the Sonar Station vendor to receive a seasonal reputation, which helps you rank up in the vendor and unlock more rewards.
