With the launch ofLightfallinDestiny 2, Strand, the newest subclass, is getting all the spotlight, but by no means is the Solar subclass any worse. The Solar subclass still provides high survivability and ad-control across all classes.

While Solar Weapons are not necessary for Solar builds to work, having one greatly improves the performance of a build, especially when combined with different Aspects and Fragments available in the class.
10Explosive Personality
Explosive Personality is a Wave-Frame Grenade Launcher that was released in Season of the Risen. It is the only Solar Wave-Frame Grenade Launcher in the game that is not sunset and can roll with a variety of perks depending on your playstyle.
It can roll with Auto-Loading Holster and Disruption Break if you are looking for a PvP grenade launcher. For PvE, you have options like Stats for All, Auto-Loading, and Field Prep in the left column and perks like Golden Tricorn and One for All in the right column.
9Gjallahorn
Gjallahorn was the meta since year one of the original Destiny once Xur started selling it. Gjallahorn made its triumphant return on Bungie’s 30th anniversary as a reward for completing the Grasp of Avarice dungeon.
This weapon was extremely strong in the launch. It had great ad-clear and great damage, and its catalyst was the icing on top. Its perk, Wolfpack Round, also boosted the damage of other perks. Though the damage of Gjallahorn has been nerfed, it remains a strong option in every game mode of Destiny 2.
8The Lament
The Lament is an Exotic Sword that was released withThe Beyond Light expansion, and players quickly realized its potential. The Lament comes with an intrinsic exotic perk called Banshee’s Wail which adds extra damage and anti-barrier when attacking after blocking the weapon.
The Lament just from Banshee’s Wail is, without a doubt, the best sword in the game. However, it comes with another Exotic perk called Revved Consumption which states that “Damaging a combatant heals the wielder.” This further improves The Lament by providing that increased survivability factor.
7Cartesian Coordinate
Cartesian Coordinate was re-introduced in Season of the Chosen as a world drop. It is a Rapid-Fire Fusion Rifle that dominated the meta in Season of the Lost when Particle Deconstruction was a thing.
It comes with both PvE and PvP perks, with Vorpal Weapon being the main perk for PvE. For PvP, Cartesian Coordinate comes with optics instead of barrels, which greatly increases the range of the weapon. Combine that with Under Pressure and High-Impact Reserves, and you have a beast of a weapon.
6BxR-55 Battler
BxR-55 Battler is a re-imagination of the Halo Battler Rifle and was released with the Bungie 30th Anniversary pack as a weapon drop from Dares of Eternity. In Season of Plunder, the Dares of Eternity weapons got a perk pool refresh and were made craftable, which made this already epic gun even better.
For PvP, it has combinations like Killing Wind and Perpetual Motion with Kill Clip or Eye of the Storm. For PvE, it has the insane perk combination of Demolitionist and Incandescent, which will greatly improve any Solar build in the game.
5Vex Mythoclast
Vex Mythoclast came back in Destiny 2 whenVault of Glasswas re-introduced in Season of the Splicer. It was pretty weak when it launched, however, but after a series of buffs, it became pretty strong, reaching its apex in Season of the Lost thanks to Particle Deconstruction.

Vex is a one-of-a-kind Fusion Rifle that acts as a High-Impact Auto Rifle. It also acts as a Linear Fusion Rifle through the help of its Exotic perk Temporal Unlimited which grants a stack of overcharges on final blows that can be consumed for special shots.
Scout Rifles are the safest and most reliable option in endgame activities, likethe Grandmaster Nightfall, and Trustee is probably the best Scout rifle in the game. The Trustee is a part of the Deep Stone Crypt raid pool, and thanks to the perk refresh given in Season of Seraph, it was made craftable.
The Trustee has all the perks that a Solar Scout Rifle should have, including perks like Reconstruction, Rapid Hit, and Pugilist in the left column and perks like Incandescent, Redirection, and Wellspring in the right column.
3Briar’s Contempt
Briar’s Contempt is an Aggressive Frame Linear Fusion Rifle that is obtained from the Root of Nightmare raid. With the launch of Lightfall, Linear Fusion Rifles have been nerfed. That is a shame because this weapon can roll with some busted perks combination making it arguably the best of its type in the game.

In the left column, there are perks like Reconstruction, Demolitionist, Rewind Rounds, and Envious Assassin. In the right column, there are perks like Focused Fury, Paracausal Affinity, High-Impact Reserves, and Frenzy.
2Acasia’s Dejection
With the launch of Lightfall, double special weapons loadout has become the meta, with Trace Rifles being an integral part of that loadout. Acasia’s Dejection is a Solar Trace Rifle that is obtainable from the Root of Nightmares raid, and, thanks to its perk combinations, is the best Trace Rifle in the game.
In the left column, Acasia’s Dejection can roll with perks like Rewind Rounds, Envious Assassin, Reconstruction, and Field Prep. In the right column, it can roll with perks like Incandescent, Vorpal Weapon, Paracausal Affinity, Target Lock, and Frenzy.
1Calus Mini-Tool
Calus Mini-Tool was re-introduced in Season of the Haunted and was on the first weapon to roll with the perk Incandescent. Incandescent quickly became an integral part of the solar builds as Solar 3.0 was also released in Season of the Haunted.
Submachine Guns are the highest DPS primary in the game, and Calus Mini-Tool being a Light-Weight Frame (a favorite of the player base), and rolling with Incandescent whilst also being craftable, made this weapon a must-have and is still the best weapon in the game for Solar builds and loadouts.
