Demon Slayeris full of interesting characters, many with unique breathing styles or weapons they use to combat demons. While the average Demon Slayer uses a classic Nichirin Blade to decapitate demons, many of the Hashira are seen using unique takes on Nichirin weapons to mix well with their particular breathing style.

There is a major focus on the different breathing styles and the Demon Slayers, but the Demons also come with powerful Blood Demon arts and abilities they use to be major threats to the Demon Slayer Corp. Genya is an incredibly unique character, as he blends to two, having some of the most unique abilities in Demon Slayer.

Is That A Gun?
While many Demon Slayers use a Nichirin Blade, others are shown using uniquely styled swords, whips, and even axes. As long as a bladed weapon is made out of Nichirin, it would be able to decapitate and kill a demon, making any of these weapons useful. By far, the most unique weapon used by a Demon Slayer is Genya, who doesn’t use a blade as his primary weapon,but actually a double-barreled shotgun.
Genya uses a specially modified shotgun that fires Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Crimson Ore,both ingredients of a Nichirin Blade. Firing these special bullets make Genya’s gun a useful weapon against demons, evenhaving the ability to kill them with a well-placed shot.While Genya’s weapon of choice is a shotgun, he does have the original Nichirin Blade he received from the Final Selection, but he is unable to use breathing styles like other Demon Slayers, making his fighting ability with a sword ineffective at matching a Demon’s.

Repetitive Action and Demon Form
Despite being unable to use a breathing style, Genya wastrained under the Gyomei, The Stone Hashira, to learn Repetitive Actions. By repeating a set of words over and over, he is able to focus his mind and perform actions with incredible power, matching that of breathing styles.
While Genya’s gun and repetitive Action are unique abilities, he truly stands out in his ability to temporarily become a demon.By consuming the flesh of a demon, Genya is able to temporarily become a demonand take on the strength and healing capabilities of the demon whose flesh he consumed. In this form, he is also shown to be able to use small amounts of that demon’s unique abilities against them. Like a demon, Genya is only able to be killed by being decapitated in this form. His strength and abilities in his demon form are directly linked to the demon whose flesh he consumed, allowing him to temporarily becomeas strong as an upper moonby consuming their flesh.
