This Friday, February 21st, Team Jade is slated to releaseDelta Force: Black Hawk Down, the cooperative campaign mode based on Ridley Scott’s 2001 film depicting the events of 1993’s Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. The real-life battle was a brutal, harrowing trial of perseverance and survival, and this video game adaptation aims to recreate the intensity as realistically as possible.
Delta Force Black Hawk Down Release Date & Details
The developers announced the date via a short teaser video showing Black Hawks going down.
At a recent preview event, I was able to go hands-on with the campaign and ask the team some questions about the title before its official release. One thing I noticed quickly inmy early impression of Black Hawk Downis that the game is truly challenging compared to most modern shooters. This is by design.

Black Hawk Down Only Has One, Standard Difficulty Setting
After going hands on with the first three levels of the game and seeing what it had to offer, the challenge of making it through a single level with my squad mates and I all intact was more than apparent.
According to the team, this is intentional. Black Hawk Down has taken the approach of only offering one, preset difficulty setting with no options to toggle to make your experience a little more approachable.

This is a choice that is likely to divide certain players, but the game is choosing to bet on itself and provide the players with a standard experience that’s meant to make you feel adequately challenged as you learn each of its seven levels, and thoroughly rewarded once you are able to conquer the task in front of you.
The One Way To Make It “Easier”
As a catered, difficult experience by choice, the only option I was told to make the game feel easier is simply to play it with a full squad of teammates. The game is hardest alone and the most manageable by playing with three friends, so struggling players are recommended to squad up if the challenge feels too steep with a smaller team.
Even so, it seems that the expectation is for players to potentially try, fail, and learn from each attempt at a mission, so you likely won’t be alone if you don’t breeze through the game in a single attempt.
