However, there is one specific role that he took up that stands out next to the rest of his filmography. That being, his role as Gorr in Marvel’sThor: Love and Thunder.

The one word that can be used to describe him as the character would be terrifying. Not only are his prosthetics and makeup petrifying, but the actor also plays him in a way that puts the viewer at unease, with his gray-scale horror only adding to the effect.

It is no wonder that the actor famously made children so scared that they ran out of the theaters screaming and crying. It is difficult to imagine the character being scarier than it already was, however, Bale revealed that this was almost the case.

Christian Bale Wanted Gorr InThor 4To Be Even More Scary

Christian Balegave an interview withScreenRantwhere he went into great detail about all things surrounding his role inThor: Love and Thunder. Here, he revealed that there was one very important condition he had with Taika Waititi, to join this project. He had a vision that came from the 1997,Come to Daddymusic video by Aphex Twin. This video is full of some horrifying and disturbing imagery and has even been labeled as one of the most unconventional works by the artist.

“I only had absolutely one request, which was that I had referenced the “Come to Daddy” video by Aphex Twin. There’s a character in it that inspired me regarding Gorr, and I did say to Taika, “Here’s the deal, I want to have the scream.” And if you see the video, you’ll understand what I mean. I said, “I want to have that scream in the film.””said Bale.

The actor wanted to execute a bone-chilling scream as his character, something that he was inspired by because this video was what he used to get into character as Gorr. The scream that he is referring to is a bone-chilling scream made by a distorted figure at the end of the video. The entire sequence is only fit for nightmares and would have added a completely new layer to the character, making it even more terrifying than he already was.

The Scream Was Cut Out Of The Final Cut OfThor 4

Unfortunately for Christian Bale, the scene of him screaming did not end up making its way into the film, having been cut out of the final version. One would assume the actor to be upset about this, considering this was the only condition he had when joining the film, however, he understood the reasoning behind this.

He stated that this sort of scene would have been far too extreme for a film directed at a younger audience and his character was already pushing a lot of the lines, existing in a comedy movie of all things.

“And I do understand, but that deal wasn’t kept. Because it was, again, something which was just a little too extreme perhaps for the PG-13. Might have had people running for the exits. But we did do it, and it’s on the cutting room floor somewhere.”

He also added that if the scream had been in the final cut of the film, it would have led to even more people running out of theaters being horrified.Despite this, he clarified that the scene was filmed, it just never made it to the end. It is, however, interesting to know that there is a clip of Christian Bale’s Gorr being one of the most terrifying horror movie characters, despite featuring in a codemy film, waiting to see the light of day and scare more children.
