The Second Heart is a Circulatory System Cyberware available for purchase in the game that can flip the way combat encounters play out entirely. Incredibly versatile, the Second Heart is something you can plan entire builds around.
Updated by Hamza Haq on June 04, 2025: With the 2.0 update, CDPR has completely revamped the way Cyberwares work in Cyberpunk 2077. The article has been updated with the new requirements for obtaining the Second Heart in the game and how it functions.
Where To Get Second Heart
After the 2.0 update, all Cyberware stock is now shared acrossall Ripperdocsmeaning you don’t need to find a specific Ripperdoc to get the Second Heart (previously only found at Wellsprings, Heywood Ripperdoc). Now, you only need to reach level 30 to unlock it for purchase.
At level 30, the Second Heart appears in Ripperdoc inventories as a Tier 4 item. Increasing your level to 40 will increase it’s rarity to Tier 5. There might also be a Street Cred requirement to unlocking this item as by the time I encountered it at a Ripperdoc, I was at Street Cred 49. Increase your Street Cred if it is not appearing for you even after reaching level 30.
Second Heart Requirements
Not anyone can install the Second Heart Cyberware into their bodies. You can only get Second Heart if you meet the following requirements.
It’s anend-game itemthat you’ll most likely only get your hands on when you’re almost done with the main campaign or maybe even after. No early do-overs here.
What Does The Second Heart Do
Second Heart revives V with full health and stamina if he ever ends up losing all of his HP, essentially functioning as a second life. This “Second Life” has acooldown of 3-4 minutes (220-300 seconds), meaning you’re not immortal andcandie if you get into an encounter you’re not equipped to handle.
Another Caveat to Second Heart’s power is that it’s meant to be used in combat encounters.Dying by falling from a height or suffocating to death will not activate its abilityand revive you.
In combat, Second Heart is a godsend as it gives youa complete reset in every fightyou’re ever going to be in. For run-and-gun builds, this means you can be as reckless as you want to be and not worry about your health at all.
This Cyberware is also incrediblyuseful for Melee Katana Buildsas getting in close quarters becomes much less of a problem with a second life in your back pocket, even against tough enemies.
