You have quite the variety to choose from, both lethal and non-lethal to accommodate your play style. No matter the threat, there is probably a grenade to help you get rid of it. You are, however, spoiled for choice, and knowing which grenades are worth investing into can help your performance.

8Recon Grenade

Recon grenades are exactly what they sound like: tools to help you get a lay of the land. It’s a useful tool, especially to help you stealth through areas undetected. Its combat power is negligible, but it can spot enemies for you mid-fight.

The issue with the recon grenade is that you have a lot of tools that can do its job. Eye implants can highlight your enemies. You can also hack cameras and use them to mark enemies. With so many alternatives for the same result, you can get by without recon grenades and save your resources to craft other items.

7CHAR Incendiary Grenade

The CHAR Incendiary Grenade is, somehow, a non-lethal option. As grenades go, its explosive radius is a bit on the smaller side. Its main damage comes from igniting enemies with fire to cause damage over time. Now, you would think being on fire would cause some enemies to panic or get stunned, but they tend to carry on fighting despite being engulfed in flames.

Its small radius and lackluster impact in a fight means these grenades are fine to use if you find them, but save your money and resources for better ones.

6X-22 Flashbang

The flashbang grenade is a damageless tool designed more for stunning enemies that neutralizing them outright. You don’t want to be hit by one yourself, but accidently throwing one too close isn’t going to hurt you as bad as your other grenades. Offensively, you can use the stun in close quarters to slip behind enemies and take them out through grappling.

At range, the flashbang moves enemies out of cover, so you’re able to pick them off. A small bonus, but you’re not going to do anything to bystanders but test their reflexes to avoid too much attention.

5MOLODETS Biohaz Grenade

The MOLODETS Biohaz Grenade is a non-lethal option. After being thrown, it expels a cloud of toxic gas that lingers after detonation for a few seconds. It deals pretty good damage, and enemies can wander into it while it’s active. As a bonus, organic enemies can be poisoned by the damage, further debilitating them in a fight.

Poison has a couple associated perks you can use to enhance its effects, and the grenade is a reliable source of poison in that context. The corrosive perk enables poison to affect robot enemies as well, so these grenades can be a hazard cloud to all your enemies. The Biohaz grenade has a homing variant that seeks a single target.

4F-GX Frag Grenade

The standard frag grenade; lethal to groups, and common enough for you to find just about anywhere. Coming in three different varieties of normal, sticky, and homing, there is a frag for every occasion. The normal version is the most common to find and easiest to craft, meaning you can spam them without restraint.

Frags do very high damage in short bursts compared to most other grenades, and scattering them over a battlefield by the handful can clear out enemies real quick. Homing frags and stickies are good for tougher targets since they prevent them from leaving the blast zone. It never hurts to stock up on frags. You can craft frags from the game start, so no reason to hold back.

3EMP Grenade

The EMP Grenade is the best non-lethal grenade to use. It deals tons of damage to machines and electronics, which are some of the tougher enemies you will encounter. Thanks to the dystopian setting, people are so heavily modified, the grenade affects organic targets with electrical damage as well.

Since it has all three possible variants, it has just as much versatility as the common frag grenade, if not more so. If you’re playing a non-lethal play style, these are viable as your main grenade type, and while they require higher tier components to craft, being uncommon at least, you can still find enough of these in game to go wild.

2Ozob’s Nose

Ozob’s nose is an especially potent frag grenade based on the character with the same name. This character had his nose ripped off and replaced with a live Grenade. Completing the associated side quest gives you the schematics to craft the same type of Grenade he has fused to his face.

As a nose, it’s a horrible choice. As an explosive to clear out enemies, it puts the standard frag to shame. The explosive radius is wider than it looks, and the damage is fatal to most enemies. It also adds an interesting splash of color and confetti to a firefight. Since these use legendary components, they can becostly.

1GASH Anti-Personnel Grenade

This is the nasty laser grenade that chews through everything. It comes in two varieties: simple thrown, and homing. Of the two, homing is better since this grenade deals a lot more damage when it’s close to your target.

The GASH grenade fires off 21 lasers in different directions to burn through all enemies. It is very lethal. Most organic enemies don’t survive long, and tougher enemies get their health cut in chunks. Even against bosses like Adam Smasher, homing laser grenades make short work of every threat.
