Denji Almost Lost Control In The Previous Chapter
The last chapter begins with Denji and Nyuta taking a walk through the alleyways to get to their apartment. Nyuta remarks that despite the Fire Devil’s attacks, everything seems pretty normal, and people are going about their work as usual. She says that she might have school tomorrow. Hearing this, Denji states that he’s living the life he always hoped for and tells Pochita that he doesn’t need to be Chainsaw Man anymore.
The next frame shows an excited Pochita asking Denji what he will dream of next. As Denji begins to wonder, he is taken by surprise by the horrendous sight of his burning apartment. As Denji tries to rush past the crowd, he is tripped by Barem, who reveals himself to be behind the fire that consumed his apartment and his pets inside.
Barem reveals to Denji that he could’ve gone for Asa, but it wouldn’t mean much since he believes Denji barely knows her to be concerned about her at all. While these lines are sure to make Denji flip out and transform, Barem’s next line almost does the job.“Cats and Dogs seemed more flammable, you know?“implying that his pets inside would be burnt to a crisp.
Hearing this, as Denji is about to pull the chain, Barem is taken down by the Devil Hunter led by Mifune. However, things again take another turn as the next panel shows the Devil Hunters being taken down by the Whip Hybrid, who appears behind them while taking them down in the process.
Even though Denji is giving his all so he doesn’t have to transform, the external forces are not leaving him with many other options. Honestly, it’s been a while since we’ve seen Denji’s berserk transformation, so it would be a delight to see Chainsaw Man back in action.
